KLite Exodus, Ops Sikap, Lurking Dangers

Whenever one arrive back home from Kuala Lumpur during festive season nowadays, among the first question asked is "tak jam ke?". Highway being flooded with heavy traffic is not alien anymore especially on the eve of first holiday and last day of any national festivities or long weekends. Many blogger will blog about it. I have blogged about it and not worth blogging about the same thing.

However what I am going to post in this entry does not sway away from the festive season exodus of KLite. It is common every time the season came, there will be to Ops Sikap. I don't know what number is this Ops Sikap and most people (me inclusive) couldn't care less about the operation. Every time the operation came into effect, the number of accidents, deaths and summons will be highlighted. We are being told that there will be more police personnel on the road to take care of the Ops Sikap with the objective of reducing road fatalities and save life. I just don't understand what do they mean by more police personnel on the road because whenever I hit the highway, I hardly see any, either on their super bikes or patrol cars. Then there those lousy self interest bastard drivers zooming along the emergency laneswhen other drivers moving slowly in the queue and where are the police?

I use Route One on most stretches on my home bound to the North and also back to to KL. Reason : I have no money to pay for the toll and also as a protest lar........ Why pay toll when you are entering into the stress driving zone? Paying toll means getting a better journey and save time. But how do one get a better and fast journey when traffic is just a crawl. One will never have the opportunity to drive at the maximum speed of 110 Kmph. A normal 45 minutes journey from Bukit Lanjan to Tanjung Malim will take two hours and those bloody bastard drivers using the emergency lane makes the stress level raise.

This time around, I begin my journey using Route 1 beginning at 12.00 midnight from Batu Caves and I reached Alor Setar at about 10.00 a.m in the morning. Minus 4 hours of sleep at Padang Rengas Mosque, I still made an 8 hour journey and less than RM 20 for toll and its my normal travelling time. I would have taken a longer time if I were to use the PLUS highway all along at a crawling pace.

The authority should upgrade Route 1 to give alternative to road users and choose between using the highway or the Jalan Lama (like me). It's not the driver alone to be blame for road accidents. Road condition and adequate signages are one of the reasons for road accidents especially for night driving. Being a night user, I found out that the road condition is a bit dangeruous especially for once in a while drivers. You will not be aware of the turns unless one use the high beam but that will distract the oncoming driver. Dangeruous spots need to be properly marked with luminuous paint if not lighted. As an experience I missed a two feet high divider somewhere before the bridge if Sungai Kepayang before reaching Simpang Pulai. I only realise that there is a divider after passing it. There is no proper warning signage of the wide divider. If I were to hit it, my car could have turn turtle and worst still hit or run down by another user.

Somewhere along the stretch within the red circle is the about two feet divider that I missed at night.

The Era of E Card.

I am not sure since when I stop sending Hari Raya cards. Ever since I work at the present organisation, I never buy Hari Raya greeting card anymore. The reason being staff were given free Hari Raya cards to be sent individually. However there still past years cards still in my drawer and not sent. The question is, is Hari Raya card now becoming obsolete? I can still remember, years back when Ramadhan comes, stalls will be set up on five foot ways and roadside selling colourful cards and of various sizes. But the sight is becoming rare now. Most people has turn to the internet to send e-greetings and since a few years back, sending SMS's instead.

Sending e-card is more economical and can help save nature. There will be no trees chopped to produce an e-card. No stamps to be bought and no necessities to store the cards when the festivities ends. One will only pay for the internet charges and time to develop the e-card.

KL FESTIVAL 2009

I found out about this festival has begun. I "accidentally" knew about it just after surfing Berita Harian online. KL Festival is a month long celebration of varied cultural festivities. Schedule of events can be downloaded from HERE.

Just wondering why they are not using bloggers to blow the whistle since in this age of new media, blogs can be a powerful tool in disseminating information.

KL Fest will focus on local cultural arts not found in other countries and this will be presented to tourists who visit places in search of things not found back home.

Six categories of activities were laid out including performing art, visual art, heritage and culture, language and literature, traditional games etc.

In performing arts there will be 31 activities comprising of three elements of art that is singing or music, dance and theater performance. All these activities will be at Istana Budaya, Aswara, Taman Budaya KL, Panggung Bandaraya,Petronas Philharmonic Hall, Central Market, Bintang Walk , KLPac, KL Tower etc. Download location map HERE.

Out of the 31 activities, 80% are local performances and the remaining from overseas.

FA Cup Final 2009

The FA Cup Final at National Stadium Bukit Jalil today 25 April 2009. The first major cup to be grabbed by local football teams in Malaysia. Kelantan came after 39 years missing the final compared to Selangor who can be said as regulars.

So the match is between
SELANGOR (The Red Giants)
and
KELANTAN
The atmosphere at the National Sports Complex is a hive of activities. Stalls selling souvenirs especially team T shirts were set up and fom the look it was painted red. It is obvious that there are more red than yellow since both teams have red as their common colours. The two pictures above tell its own story =  the comparison.
Home made horns for sale
TM too as the main sponsor organised the TM Syok Bola Carnival next to the food court in the morning creating the excitement of the finals later in the evening. There were cage futsal and drawing contest for school childrens.
Later in the evening

Things gets even busier. Crowds start to congregate and mostly the Kelantan supporters seems flood the whole area. Looks like the red tide flowing into the National Sports Complex arriving in droves especially out of the LRT station.
Security at the gates. Even with this security there are still crackers being lit in the stadium.
Dikir Barat entertained the crowd before the kick off.
A foreigner family too came to support the Kelantan Team. This comply with the Malay proverb, "Di mana bumi di pijak di situ langit dijunjung"
Training em young
Security on patrol
It is not complete if there are no face painting.

The game ended with a 1-1 draw and the winner was decided on pelanty kicks.

SELANGOR 1 (4)    KELANTAN 1 (1)

Day Trip To Langkawi

I went for a  day trip to Langkawi. It  was the weekend of the CNY and I did not expected there were so many visitors going since its not a school holiday. Most visitors are Chinese who might have taken the extra three days after the CNY. The number of visitors was my first surprise.

My second surprise was the ferry fare. Adult fare between Kuala Kedah to Langkawi is RM 23 while children between 3 and10 years is RM 17.00. I think the fare is far too expensive.

My third surprise was on the way back using the last ferry from Kuah to Kuala Kedah. They over sold the ticket. When the ferry starts sailing, there were about 6 more passengers without their seats. So it means they overload which means the ferry violate the law. I was just hoping the Police Marine or Jabatan Laut made a check but the ferry arrived Kuala Kedah scott free.
This is the property of the ferry Fortune Express - registered in Pork Klang

I will write more in my travel blog

A Long CNY Holidays

Its holiday week this time, and a first too for this year.  At least to me I am having a week of leave beginning 24th January till 2nd of February. Of course I took the extra three days of leave after the two CNY public holidays. So that make up the total of days of leave. Since 1995, I have had no long leave because I switched my job from being a teacher to the present job. So as from then, my long leave will just be a few days to a week only. This three days leave is also the balance from last year carried forward. So that means I still am not using this years leave.

Took off from my house in KL to Alor Setar, my hometown. I use to spend my holidays in my hometown and very seldom go for holidays with my family. Unless during my outstation duty if it is during the school holidays then my family will follow and it will be free trips for them.

This time around I will will be going to Kelantan to accompany my nephew for an engagement maybe on first day of CNY. It will be a long trip but I am not taking along my car. So will be a passenger. How nice to be able to travel not in the drivers seat, after years of staying behind the steering wheel. I am excited to travel this time is because I can use my new Canon 1000D. As passenger I have more freedom to snap away whenever I want to.

I also have another plan in mind. Maybe going to Langkawi for a day trip. My son has been asking when I will take him to Langkawi after his unfortunate failed trip with a group of his friends last December. I registered him for the trip but unfortunately he was caught with chicken pox and has to stay behind.  Going to Langkawi during holiday seasons is just like putting the neck on the chopping board. Price  of goods will increase and at places exhorbitantly. However this week, public holiday is just on Monday and Tuesday, while the rest are working days. I am hoping that there will not be too many visitors to Langkawi and the "price mechanism" will be contained.

Since I used Touch N Go that is incorporated in my debit card, I pay my toll using the card. After all RM100 has already been heldback from my usable credit, why not use it. Eventhough I do not use the highway direct from Bukit Lanjan to Alor Setar Selatan which is more than RM54.40. I still took my usual modus operandi route that cost me not more than RM 30.00. It is a mix of highway and trunk road.

Have you ever wondered that using the TnG and SmartTag lane it is difficult or no opportunity at all to stop at the rest area at the toll plaza. These lanes are located at the middle most of the plaza and making it not safe to turn left into the rest area. It is some sort of if one use the dedicated lanes, one are forced not to use the facilities at the area. At the Sungai Dua toll plaza (South Bound)  for example, I used to stop at the rest area for prayer but since using the TNG, there is no way for me to stop at the area anymore. Immediately after the plaza, there are dividers leading all the way after the exit from the rest area. And then one cannot make a U turn which is dangeruous and flouting the traffic law.

I am not sure whether I will be in Alor Setar for the whole duration which I intended to. I checked my email and learn that my friends from the Yakuza paintball team is planning to train for the My-NPL league scheduled during the middle of February. This is the first time I will be participating in the NPL League after our team emerge first runners-up in the Bloggers Paintball Tournament held recently. If there will be training on 1st February, then I will have to return to KL earlier bacause it is unfair for my team members for me to leave the training. We had a good teamwork during the tourney a d that spirit must be uphold. After all Together Everybody Achieve More.

Wishing all my Chinese readers Happy Chinese New Year.

No Sex Party In Johor But In KL

Still there is no news or follow up about the sex party that was planned in Johor but 26 people at a sex party were nabbed in a 4 star hotel in Kuala Lumpur. So the sex party did organised somewhere to usher in the new year. What makes the  party  failed to achieved its desired objective might be the unexpected guest that came late are the D7s from Bukit Aman. What is alarming is that one of the guest present was a 22 years noted female newscaster from a local TV station and a 25 years old actress.

Now people are anxious to know who are the two celebrities who attended the sex party. Sooner or later their idendities will be exposed even though not at their consent.

The picture in this posting was copied from The Star online while below is from Berita Harian online

 UPDATE : 2nd January

The police had confirmed that the newscaster is Farahrizan Abdul Razak from Astro Awani. She is also tested positive for drugs. and had been remanded for two days along with eight others. However they are not going to be charged for unlawful sexual conducts but under the narcotics act.

Xtreme AutoShow 08 - Part II

Went again to Xtreme Atutoshow 08 at Putra Stadium. No problem for me since location is not far from my house. The exhibition booth outside is nothing diffrence from the evening. The group of Caldina Club owners seemsto become a hit. The reason being the presence of the slim gurls in sexy some revealing tops and xtreme hot pants. These gurls do get much attention especially from the photographers clicking away their cameras. Well, of course I do not miss the opportunity too aiming my Benq digital cameras, capturing the alluring gurls.

At the side of the stadium there is another exhibition of a different kind. There were displays of modified car waiting for the night's event. These are the 'fire throwers' or Spit Fires. Blasting their exhaust that spit fire to the excitement of enthusiasts.

Definitely hotter than the gurls

What did captured the nght at this spot is the demonstration by the Freestyle Group from Thailand. They came all the way to exhibit their modified cars and pickups. Those present were  not only fascinated by their car's make over but of the car dancing to the music. Pictures below are cars belonging to the Freestyles Group from Thailand.

MB Kedah's Open House

4th October 2008, Mentaloon, Alor Setar

Today is Kedah Menteri Besar's open house at Seri Mentaloon, the official residence of the MB. This is the first time I attended Kedah MB's open house ever since. There was no opportunity for me due to lack of information. The announcement about the open house was declared on banners placed around Alor Setar town and maybe at all other towns of Kedah.

I arrived at about 2.00 pm and the area designated for the open house was swarming with people. Cars parked along the Alor Setar Jitra road on both sides stretched from Alor Merah to Pantai Johor a distance of nearly a kilometer on both sides. There must be plenty of food since I saw some tapau the food back home. At first my impression that this open house will be filled with PAS supporters since the MB is from PAS. I was dead wrong. I saw people from all walks of life from Malays, Indians and Chinese. A sight rarely seen when an event is hosted by muslim. All the ethnic groups attended and this is another example that all race has accepted the new government who took over from BN during the last GE. I think the Information Minister will say that these people who come to Kedah MB's open house because Ustaz Azizan gives free food and not because Kedahans accept and support Pakatan Government just as he boast the those 200,000 people who attended the PM's open house show that they support BN.   What a Bullshit statement from our Info Minister.

Eid ul Fitr

The keeper of the Royal Seal had announced that the Eid ul Fitr for 1429 falls in 1st October 2008. For muslims in Malaysia it means 30 days of fasting. It will be another one Islamic calendar year before we come to see Ramadhan again. Insyallah, god let us live on until the next Ramadhan.

I would like to wish all my muslim readers all over the world a Happy Eid ul Mubarrak

Eid-ul-Fitr is one of the most widely celebrated festivals in the Islamic calendar and it occurs after the sighting of the new crescent moon which signals the end of the month of Ramadan. Eid is celebrated over a three day period in Islamic countries. It is a joyous occassion for all Muslims, particularly children. It is a time when Muslims give thanks for the blessings they have received from Allah, celebrate the victory of the forces of good over evil, and forgive their neighbours for old grudges and ill feelings. It is also a time for spreading peace, sharing with others and giving thanks for completing another period of fasting for the month of Ramadan. Read more........

PAS Victory in Kedah is a Present to the Sultan

PAS victory in taking over the government of Kedah comes as sweet as a sweeter at the right time.

This year the Sultan of Kedah celebrate his 50th year as at the throne of the Sultanate of Kedah Darul Aman. This victory can be considered a gift from god. God has presented him with a government that base its administration on the principle of Islam (not Islam Hadhari). There is nothing sweeter for the DYMM Sultan Kedah than having his Islamic government administrating his state.Picture taken from HERE.

As a Kedahan, Daulat Tuanku. May Allah bless you and the Sultanah in the best of health. I am looking forward for your second term as the Yang Dipertuan Agong.

New Public Holiday

23rd January 2008 is a day when the Hindus will celebrate Thaipusam.

Thaipusam (Tamil: தைப்பூசம்) (or Thai Poosam Kavady) is a Hindu festival celebrated mostly by the Tamil community on the full moon in the Tamil month of Thai (Jan/Feb). PusamMurugan (also Subramaniam), the youngest son of Shiva and Parvati, and the occasion when Parvati gave Murugan a vel (lance) so he could vanquish the evil demon Soorapadman. refers to a star that is at its highest point during the festival. The festival commemorates both the birthday of Lord (copied from Wikipedia).

Who doesn't enjoy having a holiday? The Thaipusam holiday was only observed in Selangor, Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Perak and Penang because where most Indians reside and work when the British brought them from India during their colonialism days.

What is the reason for this unexpected holiday? Just a silly excuse - traffic jam; "Lagipun, setiap kali sambutan Thaipusam, jalan raya di Kuala Lumpur sesak sekali," katanya dan pengumuman beliau itu disambut tepukan gemuruh lebih 21,000 anggota dan penyokong MIC yang menghadiri Majlis PemimpinBersama Rakyat di Stadium Badminton Kuala Lumpur di sini.

Then after this there will be more holidays coming based on traffic jam as a reason. During the fasting month of Ramadhan traffic jam will be worse than the Thaipusam celebration. So there will be holidays during the next fasting month. And this time UMNO will get the credit for that because they are good at grabbing such opportunities to be in the limelight. Remember who fought for Independence? Who else if not UNMO. Right? wrong!!!!! They are just lucky because independence was given by the British during their rule.

Who get the credit for this latest public holiday on the list. It is MIC. It is so fortunate that MIC gets this credit because they have been trying to make Thaipusam a public holiday for more than a decade. Do you think if Hindraff doesn't go to the streets Hindus in KL and Putrajaya will get their holidays?. From now and until the next General Election whatever Hindus demand will be granted. So thanks Hindraff, we in KL and Putrajaya get the aftershock effect.

Shutting The Eye? - Updated 1 January 07

Today is the last day of 2007 and the countdown for the year 2008 will begin by midnight. Celebrations has been arranged and the highlight will definitely be at Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur where the PM is expected to be among those counting down to 12.00 midnight. It will also mark the end of Visit Malaysia Year 2007.

Most of us might still remember that one of the attraction set up for VMY is the Eye on Malaysia which was officiated by PM Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on 6th January 2007. So tonight will be the last night it serves tourist foreign and locals alike. Is it so? Another landmark will be dismantle and not sure whether it will end up in a scrapyard or being erected again somewhere else. So there goes our RM30 million structure and did they get back the taxpayers money? It is not a wise idea to build the eye with such an amount of taxpayers money just as a feast of the eye for 365 days only. Would it be much better if it is a permanent landmark and icon of Malaysia where many people can earn a living from its operation.

UPDATED - 1 January 2008

The Star (online) reported the the Eye on Malaysia will be retained. The report:

PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Mansor is hoping to make the Eye on Malaysia ferris wheel a permanent fixture here, where the icon will stand tall and proud alongside the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) and the KL Tower.

Diary of Eid ul Fitr

Eid ul Fitr is the day marking the end of the holy month of Ramadhan where Muslims celebrate the victory of fulfilling a month of fasting. After abstaining from eating, drinking and avoiding what Allah prevent from doing, eid is the day presented by Allah the Almighty for being loyal and obey what is prohibited. It is also compulsory for Muslims to give the alm (fitrah) to the needy. The amount is 1 Baghdad Gantang of the grain of one's staple food. In our case it is rice. However since Islam suits all era, nowadays the practice of giving the alm in the form of rice is not much practiced and being replaced by cash equivalent to 1 gantang of rice.
This year I paid my alm in Kuala Lumpur at RM 4.70 per head. On the Eid it is a sin for Muslim to fast. After a month of fasting, Muslims can continue with another 6 days of fasting during the month of Syawal beginning a day after the 1st Syawal. One who fast for 6 days during the month of Syawal will be considered by Allah as fasting through out the year.

As usual this year I celebrate the Eid in my hometown Alor Setar. The Eid start with the Aidil Fitri prayer where Muslims congregate mosques to perform the Eid prayer. On this occasion Muslims will put on their best dress and it is usually the new dress. Myself too don a new Baju Melayu and a new sampin. The sampin I bought in Brunei two months ago. It was a Terengganu product and sometimes I laugh at myself when realising why do I have to buy a Malaysian product in a foreign land. The sampin costs B$35.00 and when I went shopping at Mesjid Jamek, I found out the price range from RM25.00 to RM 45.00. So, I must have bought something more expensive in a foreign land.

I did something that I had never done before when performing the Eid prayer. This time I sat in the front most row of the first row. After prayer, family members gather and sessions of asking for forgiveness for wrongdoing were carried out. Kids were the most happy group because they will be given the duit raya (Angpow in the Chinese Culture). It is very unique these days where inter cultural practice is happening in Malaysia. Today duit raya is filled in the angpow, which is the Chinese culture. However the colour of the angpow (small envelope) id usually red for the Chinese but for Muslim it is usually green or other colour with decoration to signify Islam.

Eid is also the day for Muslims to visit cemeteries to offer prayer to the dead because after a month of "rest" from being "tortured" (seksa kubur) for their wrongdoing in earth, it will continue. The prayer offering will lessen their burden of being "tortured".

To be Continued.............

1st Syawal is on 13th October 2007

The keeper of the Royal Seal announced that Hari Raya Aidil Fitri for this year is on Saturday 13th October 2007.

SELAMAT HARI RAYA AIDIL FITRI

I will be leaving for my hometown tonight. Just hoping to avoid the rush and be trapped in the jam on the highway. However my normal journey will be mostly the trunk road because I want to avoid paying toll. I am still on my silent protest on tolled road in the country. Everytime I travel up north to my hometown, my toll budget is not more than RM 20.00. The actual rate from Damansara Toll Plaza to Alor Setar Selatan is RM 54.40.

Since Aidil Fitri falls on 13th October, and Dr Sheikh Muzaffar is the 13th Muslim cosmonaut, we have a double 13 this month esp. for Malaysia. To many people 13 is not a lucky number. There is no row 13 on airplane. Housing developer avoid numbering a house in the project with 13. There will also be no Lorong 13. How superstitious are you?

Festive Shopping

For two consecutive days on weekends I went out to Kuala Lumpur's Jalan Mesjid India. Where else to shop in Kuala Lumpur where you can get everything for the Aidil Fitri celebration at one stop and at a bargainable price. Jalan Mesjid India is the nucleus every year especially for Muslims and Indians alike during their annual festivals. The place together with Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman make it a place worth a visit eventhough not during festive season.

At Jalan Mesjid India, one can buy Indian goods and wear, while on Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman there are textile shops such as Kamdar, Nagoya, Globe Silk Store etc. Between these two roads there are small bazaar selling textiles and silks which can be bought at wholesale price. Then one can visit another shopping complex such as Semua House, Sogo, Pertama and once popular Campbell complex. If you come from outside Kuala Lumpur and need more time to spend at this area, there are budget hotels to stay and do all your shopping with ease without the problem of traffic jam and parking. I had a friend who came from Miri and stayed at one of the hotel and did his shopping here.

On both afternoons I went out it was raining. As usual took the LRT from Bukit Jalil and embark at Stesen Mesjid Jamek. Luckily DBKL build shades along the road leading to Kompleks PKNS before entering Jalan Mesjid India. At least there is some shade to shelter from the drizzle. On the first day I did not do much shopping whereby my wife bought some cloth for the curtain. Then rush back to get back home before the breaking of the fast.

I took my family out again to the same place on the second day, Sunday 7th Oct and this time my plan is to buy the Baju Melayu for my son. At home the weather was fine but halfway on the LRT, it started to drizzle and upon reaching Stesen Mesjid Jamek, it was already raining. Event though not heavy but enough to keep many people at bay. At the exit of the station, there is a lady selling umbrella at RM5.00 each. What a time to do business. She really know when to sell things. She does not do business when it is sunny.

Bought a Baju Melayu for my son at a price of RM 32.90. And for myself also a set of Baju Melayu for RM 59.90. Shopping time is not over and since the time of breaking of fast is very near, we decided that there's no time to get back home. What more there is no cooked food at home so decided to just break the fast in the area. There are stalls selling food and it is specially set up by BDKL just for the fasting month. Bought some food for breaking of fast but there's no comfortable place to sit. We just sat on the five foot way, just like many other shoppers like us. So we did not feel like we are vagrants or homeless people.

After breaking of fast we went to Semua House at the end of Jalan Mesjid India. I decided to have my Maghrib prayer and found out the the room that has been turned into a surau is very small. At one time it can just accommodate six people to pray. There were many people waiting outside on the way leading into the Male and Female toilet. I think the planning of the toilet is not right. I am not an architect nor an engineer or a building designer. A man who want to go to the Gents has to walk past the Female toilet and easily peep what is inside. The location is also quite hidden and this pose some danger to the Females especially.

While waiting outside for my turn to pray, I was wondering why does the authority make a rule that all building have a planned surau instead of a make shift room that has no commercial value. Usually Muslim prayer room in buildings are located somewhere hidden and difficult for people to reach. Malaysia in the Constitution is a secular country but the government says it is an Islamic country because Islam is the official religion, majority of the people are Muslims and we now practice Islam Hadhari. Performing the prayer five times a day is one of the pillars of Islam and is compulsory. Since it is compulsory and prayer can be performed anywhere, but as a respect to the religion there should be a proper place for them to pray. I think the authority should make it a rule that when planning a building, one of the place that has to be in the plan is a surau and located at a place easily accessible and not just at one empty corner and difficult to find. It should be part of the building landscape or maybe a landmark and this can be an image to country that we respect Islam as the official religion.

So Ops Sikap Has Begun

Yesterday Ops Sikap XIII has been launched by the IGP at Dataran Bentong. What is in everyones hope is the statistics drop. However with the launch the "Medal Tally" is also launched. Whether we like or not, everyday people will be curious to see whether the "medal tally" increases.

Pis: from Berita Harian Online.

According to Tan Sri Musa, the operation will focus on defaulters under the Akta Pengangkutan Jalan (APJ) 1987 especially on serious offence that can lead to road accidents.

Under the act maximum fine of RM 300 will be imposed on these offence;

  • speeding
  • reckless and dangerous driving
  • driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs
  • overtaking at double lines
  • beating traffic lights
  • beating the queue
  • and using emergency lanes.

Slow driving on the right lane causing traffic snarl is also an offence.

5,190 officers including 4,608 traffic police are involved. Personnels from other departments such as General Forces and FRU are also deployed.

Culture - Moon Cake Festival

For the first time I witness a Chinese culture life. Usually I just see from far but got this opportunity to feel the atmosphere, here in Kuching. I was walking along the Waterfront when I saw something interesting on one of the lanes along Main Bazaar Street. As I walk into the area, saw some photographers and some activities going on. What I saw the photographer were capturing a young man doing skating stunts and what seems not right is that he is trying to manouvre his zkate board over two dustbin which I think belong to the City Council. The area was well lit and at first I thought it was the lantern festival but later found out that it was the Moon Cake Festival.

This is the man and his ballon art.

This is Malaysia. The festival is a Chinese culture, but the presence of a kompang group is a testimony that Malaysian can live in harmony even though they come from different ethnic groups and beliefs.
