I get this latest advertisement from Nuffnang advertising network is about music online website. The website, I think, is another strategy by Nokia promoting their brand since music is a the heartbeat of life among youngsters and most adult alike. Nokia is catching the market using music and they have two type of membership.

This music channel on the web is comprised by the Independent Artists Club (IAC), and presented by Nokia Music.

IAC, put the limelight on millions of music lovers in Asia Pacific uncovering music and discovering fresh new sounds by promoting home-grown music in all its hues, colours, genres and sounds.

Members can download and share them with friends. They can also rate and write comments about it.

There are three type of membership i.e;

1.VIP Registration - Stream music, download 10 tracks per month and add comments

2.Normal Registration+ - Stream music, download 5 tracks per month and add comments

3.Non Registered - Stream music and read comments

Nokia owners will automatically become a VIP member of IAC where else non Nokia members can join as Normal membership.

Members can download musics, create playlist and also choose genre according to their taste. Musics are from artists mostly in South East Asia and is not found in the market.

Entertainment - Rainforest World Music Festival

I am not a musician nor a serious music listener. To me music is just something to while away my time. Moreover I can consider myself as a "kaki bangku" literally translated is "leg of a chair" , one who is not skillful to play football. Back in the 70s when I was serving in Sabah I did get myself involved in the field of performing art that is in theatre and dance (I am not a dancer though). In actual fact I lead a theatre and dance group as Chairman, scriptwriter and actor. But when I get serious in sports I have to sacrifice involvement in performing art.

I heard about the Rainforest Music Festival a few years back and the interest to attend starts seeping into me. When I read more about it the interest grew more intense and plan to attend one in future. This years festival will be just over the weekend and definitely I will have to miss the event due to financial and time constraint . I am keeping my finger crossed and plan to attend the event next year and will try to work to it.

Gangstarz is a popular reality television show in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. This show is broadcasted on TV3 every Sunday at 9:00 pm.After Akademi Fantasia musical fans in Malaysia will be looking forward to tonights final.

Bolivian Musical Instruments

I write this blog while updating my other blog regarding the Bolivian music in KL. Whle doing a search on the internet I came across a page about traditional wind instruments in Bolivia. What I was wondering is that some of the instruments resembles the traditional musical instruments of Sabah and Sarawak. Is there any cross culture?

Bolivian Music in KL

I went out to KL to setttle my credit card bills and saw two pemuzik jalanan presenting Bolivian music. It was nice and soft good for relaxing purposes. I thought it might be a prelude of the Rainforest Music Festival to be held in Kuching in July. In front of them is a few copies of the "Magic of the Flute" compact disc. I am not sure of the price of the CD but saw one guy buy it and gave them RM50.

I admire their effort to travel to other side of the world to market their music. If not for their presentation that day, I would not have know a sample of Bolivian music. During their presentation, they were playing with different types of musical instruments including bamboo flutes which is of different types. On the other hand were they doing legal business because roadside peddling without a license is not allowed by BDKL.
