Are You An Idiot?

Did Einstien ever said that:

"I fear the day when the
technology overlaps with our humanity.

The world will only
have a generation of idiots."

Today we still go to the cafe to meet friends. We visit museums to admire histories, we go to the stadiums to enjoy a matches, we meet our girlfriend or boyfriends not to miss each other, we travel together in a car or tour the city or sit at the seaside enjoying the see breeze and waves.

If you are in situations as portrayed in the collage above, do you consider yourself an IDIOT?

IPMC - Internet Platform Mobile Communication

I am not sure whether there is such thing as IPMC or Internet Platform Mobile communication. We have IPTV or Internet Platform Television to transmit television images over the internet, so we can have IPMC as a communication platform over the internet too because this is the trend with communication in the internet age. However we already have VOIP or Voice Over Internet Protocol, but IPMC will also include also video images.

When I try to Google for the acronym IPMC what was found is only Mobile IP. what ever it is, its mobile communication using the internet as the platform. Maybe if I a Professor or a PhD holder, when I coin IPMC, everyone will use it in time to come. I am going to us it in this posting and my future postings in it is related to mobile communication using the internet as the platform.

Using of mobile gadget has been part of humans daily life. Ever since Alexander Graham Bell invented telephone the evolution of communication today improves far more than leap and bound. Mobile gadget has been a very important tool for people to communicate and share things. Today mobile gadgets has been shrunk from a desktop PC so small that can be held in just one hand.

Now lets go to my main aim of this posting. Do you like anything FREE? I am sure most of us prefer things free unless there are some restriction on free items compared to paid items. Anyway thats beside   the point and not what I am trying to bring about.

Pain Relief - The AMAZING HAIR DRYER

Received in the email
When the blow job is electrified, you can expect shocking results.
Cheap and easily accessible!!

I think the hot air from hair dryer can do alot -also use heat up my
trouser legs before wearing them - good feeling.

The Amazing Hair Dryer (by Z. D. Zhou)

Not long ago a friend took her ten-year-old boy to my house looking
for my wife, saying that her child had hiccups all day long. The child
was very uncomfortable and unable to eat at all. After she checked, my
wife said there was a muscle spasm in his diaphragm. Without
hesitation, she took out a blow dryer, turned on the power and started
blowing at the boy's stomach. About 10 minutes later, the boy burped
and felt relieved. We were surprised that this thing can do the trick.
But my wife just smiled.

A few days later, I had a stiff neck when I woke up in the morning. I
could hardly turn my head. I recalled my stiff neck problem was
treated a few times by acupuncture and cupping when I was younger. I
asked my wife for the similar treatment. She said there weren't any
needles at home nor any suitable small jars for cupping. She just took
out a hair dryer. I couldn't help laughing. Again? This thing can cure
stiff neck too?

Amazing! She blew on my shoulders and my neck for about 15 minutes.

My neck was really loosened up. I could turn my head now. Later in
the evening, she repeated that on me once more. The pain in my neck
was significantly reduced. I crowned her the "queen of blow drying".

She explained that this was inspired by the method people used in the
old days. In hospitals, with all the modern equipment we have, doctors
do not need blow dryers.

But back in the old days, in rural villages especially, doctors were
poorly equipped with medical supplies. So they came up with other
means to treat patients with common pains.

Suddenly I realized this is the thermal effect on pains with the heat
generated by a blow dryer. Modern physiotherapy equipment such as
electric, laser, thermal, ultrasound and others can easily generate
heat for effective treatment. They are, of course, more powerful than
a blow dryer.

However, WHEN THEY ARE NOT AVAILABLE, using a blow dryer to generate
heat will also work, temporarily at least, on common pains such as
back pain, muscle spasm, stiff neck, leg cramps, etc.

It is readily accessible and easy to operate as long as there is electricity.
The blow dryer is really amazing.

Try it. Hope it works for you too.

MAS A380 PLANE IS IN THE BUILDING PROCESS

This video was posted in You Tube but I got the lead from Malaysia Asia website.  According to the website, the picture was taken at Airbus factory in Toulouse, France. It will be the first Malaysian Airlines A380 unit.

This is the first of the six planes that the airline has ordered is due for delivery around April or May in 2012 and the inaugural flight for the A380 will most likely be on the Kuala Lumpur-London route. Read the full article HERE and view more pictures and details.

IS ACER NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ME?

What compatibality am I talking about?

Computer of course. I bought my first desktop in 1984 and it was a 386. The price then was nearly RM4k. However it was not a branded set and I know nuts about computer then. Since the salesman was my former student, he did impress me to buy what he suggested. However nothing wrong with that set. It works just fine and I did some community service with that set in the area of sports.

In 1995, I bought my first laptop for RM5,500.00 at a PC Fair in Penang and it was a Acer Travelmate. I bought that too because the salesman…..er…salesgirl did convince me with the set.

During its terms of warranty twice the hinge broke and I have to send it to the service centre to get it replaced. Luckily it all happens during the warranty period and I do not have to pay anything for it.Use it until it I bought a new laptop, a Benq in 2001. Since then I lost trust in Acer. I have no problem with BENQ hardwares but with the softwares.

I switched to a FTEC netbook when I have a power supply connection problem which turn out the be the motherboard on my BENQ.

Earlier this year  bought a Aspire AX3950 and last June I have to take it back to the service centre after I got this message:  DISK READ ERROR. It was a HDD defective sectors. The Hardisk was replaced and OS recovered.

Then during this Ramadhan I experience another problem with my Aspire. This was displayed on my monitor screen. The PC hangs.

Petaling-20110818-00133

I have no choice but to force shut and restart the PC. The same effect occurs forcing me to force shut down again.

Petaling-20110818-00129

When I restart this message appeared on the screen

Petaling-20110818-00132

So I think I can just let the PC repairs itself by clicking Restore

Petaling-20110818-00130

While in the process of restoring, the problem appears again and the process stalled. I have to go back to square 1 to post this blog and I am not sure when the problem will bug me again.

 IMG-20110818-00131

Did the same process the second time and then this message appears.

2011-08-18 01.16.53

2011-08-18 01.17.38acer

Now I have to carry my PC back to Low Yatt.

So, I am wondering…………Is Acer not compatible with me?

SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB 10.1

Open redmummy’s blog and found out that her latest posting is about the latest Galaxy Tab 2. This is her video shot posted on You tube.

Now I also found the comparison between Galaxy Tab and iPad 2. Just sit back and listen to the comparison.

I have been using the Tab since January and of course it is very convenient in that I can carry the 7 inches Tab even in my pants pocket or inside pocket of my jacket. Now with the introduction of the new Tab, I am just tempted to own one.

Should I buy one?

REPLACING PETROL WITH THORIUM?

This is an article I received in my email from Business Opportunities Weblog. I copy and paste in full.

You may find yourself spending a lot of money on gas for your car today, but the car of the future may only require 8 grams of thorium.

Thorium is abundant and radioactive, but much safer to use than an element such as uranium. When thorium is heated it becomes extremely hot and causes heat surges allowing it to be coupled with mini turbines producing steam that can then be used to generate electricity. It also helps that it has a very large liquid range between melting and boiling point.

Combining a laser, radioactive material, and mini-turbines might sound like a complicated alternative solution to filling your gas tank, but there’s one feature that sells it as a great alternative solution. Stevens has worked out you’d require a 227kg, 250MW thorium engine in order to power a typical road car. Within that system 1 gram of thorium produces the equivalent of 7,500 gallons of gasoline. So if you fit the Thorium engine with 8 grams of Thorium, it will run the vehicle for its entire lifetime without needing to be refueled while all the time not producing any emissions. The engine lasts so long in fact, that it could be taken from one vehicle and used in another as and when they wear out.The issues to overcome are the radioactivity and the mining of thorium to make this engine possible. Stevens says the radioactivity can easily be contained with aluminium foil. As for the mining, the reserves are there, with 440,000 tons alone in the U.S., we just need the mining facilities to extract it in large enough quantities. With the potential benefits that is sure to happen.

Watch video HERE about energy from Thorium
Thorium powered cars could become reality.

However it will take many years to come before we can test it, I suppose.

MORTUARY ON FACEBOOK?

I was driving behind a taxi and on the boot there is an advertisement for an online obituary and mortuary service. At the same time I remembered when my brother passed away, his son asked one of his close ex student who is good at hacking to delete his account. The idea did not come into my mind at that moment because sadness over rule all imagination and ideas.

Now after reading the advertisement, it crossed into my mind that the idea of deleting his Facebook account might not be the right move. Maybe the account can be used as his mortuary in cyberspace so that friends who were are unaware about his death might come across his FB account and learn that he had passed away. Maybe a JPEG tombstone placed on his profile to let others know that the account holder has left us forever in this world.

Maybe Facebook can go another step by creating a obituary and mortuary in cyberspace so that the dead can be remembered by families and friends until time ends wherever they are. Well, maybe my idea sucks.

Web Intrusion

I received a message from Google regarding an intrusion into my email account. Google warned me that an unknown person tried to access my Gmail. Google advised me to change my password and I heed the advice.

account intrusion1

I did not expect that my there is someone interested in my email and tried to open it.

With today’s advancement in software technology, such intrusion will become a normal activity especially when one is not well protected.

Lately there is some weird activity on Facebook chat function. A few time I received chat request from known friends which turn out to be something suspicious after a few times. The chat box pops up and it is from someone you know with a greeting. Once answered he/she will ask with this question, do you wanna laugh? With your response your ‘friend’ will send you a link. Luckily I did not click on any link. At first I thought it’s a genuine ‘hi’ from my friend. After a few times receiving the same operation, I guess its some sort of malware or phishing activities.

My Samsung Tab Has Battery Problem?

I think its confirm that the battery of my Samsung Tab has a problem. It was fully charged last night at about 12.00 pm. I wanted to test whether the problem persist and leave it overnight on standby with the cables pulled off. When I woke up at 7.00 this morning, and upon checking, found out that the battery symbol is blinking and when I switch it on, it remind me to plug the charger and only 1% of power left.

It means that on standby, the battery can't even stand half a day comparing to the products review I read on the internet. I pick part of the review here. So, how about that battery life? It's pretty good. After periodically surfing the web and reading on the Tab for about a day and a half with just 3G on, the battery is at about 20 percent. On our taxing video rundown test, which loops a standard definition video at about 65 percent brightness and 3G off, but WiFi on, the Tab's 4000mAh battery lasted for 6 hours and 9 minutes. That's around the same as some of the other Android tablet's we've tested, but not as long as the iPad's 9 hours and 33 minutes.

Another review HERE says "The battery life is expected to last an impressive 7 hours of continuous video playback".

My Tab can't even run for an hour after a full charge and when the battery show 50%, in about less than 5 minutes the message asking me to plug in the charger pops up. I think I have to charge the battery with some Tongkat Ali power or Gambir Sarawak, to maintain its erection, err.. I mean power and prevent it from premature ejaculation.

I tried recalibrating the battery by letting it drain totally and recharged but there is no significance change.

I an going to take it back to the dealer........

Why I Switched From Maybank2U to CIMBclicks

Many of us have been using the convenience of online banking for fast and easy transactions. It is no doubt that we agree the usefullness of using online banking for most transactions because it can be done at the comfort of our own home.

Many too have been using Maybank2U facilities, me inclusive. But since early last year I was forced to stop using Maybank2U facilities ever since I forgot my password and my account was blocked. I know the best solution is to contact the customer service which I did. Failing the first trial, I did a second. Both ended up with a failure. Them main reason is the customer service fail to respond to my request for unblocking the account. I had to wait in vain and loosing money to my phone provider and in the end nothing fruitful.

Maybe the customer service at their office is very busy even at midnight.

I called personally at one of their e-banking outlet and the answer is I have to call the customer service, which is the same number. I gave up.

Recently I experience the same situation with CIMBclicks. They changed the password from 10 to 8 units. I can’t log in to my account.

I went to the bank and, I lift off my hat because the customer service is so efficient. When I inquire at the front desk, the lady on duty immediately called their customer service using their own phone and within 10 minutes, everything was settled. The lady put her best effort to sort out and that’s the way customer service should be.

That’s hoe I switched my online banking experience from a suppose to be the largest bank in Malaysia to another.

I think customer service is one way one can loose customers.

Oh! My Galaxy Tab

Something must be wrong with my 2weeks old Samsung Galaxy Tab. I found out today that it eats into the battery so fast. In 35 minutes, the message appear asking me to connect to the charger becauase there's only 15% battery power left. Today alone I have to charge twice and another funny thing is that a full charge took only about half an hour only.

I Own A Samsung Galaxy Tab Now

It has been quite sometimes that i wanted to own a Tab. For a few months I've been walking around IT centres surveying for the best price of the latest craze in the computing world. After Apple came up with the iPad, other computer companies seems to follow Apple and come up with their own gadget. While Apple is a 10 inch screen pad, it seems that other companies are producing a 7 inch screen which is quite portable and can fit into a jacket's pocket.

I have been comparing whether buying a Pad or Tab by asking around computer 'experts' and also read reviews in computer magazines and on the internet.  Seems that majority of those I ask prefer the Tab. While doing so, too, my mind is already setting on the Tab. The final straw was at Low Yatt two days back and I was told to take the Tab because of price factor, performance and availability of softwares especially those running on the android platform while iPad can only use Apple softwares. Due to flexibility, I opted for the Samsung Tab.

I knew that the corner and I decided to wait another day even though I was given a best price at Low Yatt.

My patience is worth. I visited the Malaysian IT Fair at Mid Valley Mega Mall and got the better price.   There was a special price of only RM2199 while stock last. I saved about RM500.00 for the Samsung Galaxy Tab. Now I am twiddling with my newly owned mobile portability gadget.

I hope now i will be more productive with my blogging activities.

Still More Problem With Windows 7

All this while I have been using Windows XP on my netbook and now Windows 7 on my new desktop. Its a Home Premium that come installed in the CPU.

Teething problem is of course getting use to the application. Not much different but some different lar......Just dunno know how to explain....

First problem
I found out that other registered user or guest on this CPU running Windows 7 have to get my permission (as admin) before he/she be allowed to use my YES4G Go dongle. If I change the admin control account to 'Do not notify me' , the computer cannot find the dongle at all. It is a problem when I am not around and my kids want to log on to the internet using my computer and my Yes account. I will have to reveal my password and whats the use of having admin password for admins' security. This problem do not exist on Windows XP I am using on my netbook.

I even went to enquire on how to release the gadget for use without permission of the admin but the answer is there is no way. Oh gosh......Windows 7 should have some liniency for their end user instead of controlling everything. End users should be given the option to control the admins'  User Account Control and release whatever he seem to be safe. I have yet to try the Celcom Broadband stick for this problem. If there is no problem with Broadband stick, then the problem must be with the YES4G Go Dongle.

Problem 2
I have been updating my blog using the ease of Windows Live Writer found under the Windows Live Essential (WLE). I even use other programs from WLE such as Sky Drive, MSN Messenger, Emails and Picture Gallery Viewer.

The problem exist when I can't open up my Live Writer and an error message pops up telling me Windows will inform me if "they" find a solution for my problem and then close the Live Writer. I tried  shutting down the PC, restart and open Live writer and the same error message pops up. The funny part is, Windows too do not know what the problem is. Shit...........

I then tried to repair and reinstall Windows Live Essential 2011 but after a few minutes of waiting, I got an error message informing me that WLE cannot be installed because there some error in one of the program. I tried a few times up to the tips given by Microsoft, even to unable my firewall, but to no avail.

Then I decided to uninstall every WLE found on my computer, reinstall and after minutes of waiting, the same problem appear.

Now, this is a Microsoft product, I am trying to install onto a machine running Microsoft latest softwares, Windows 7 and yet Microsoft can't even solve a simple problem. Don't they have detecting mechanism that can synchronize previous versions with latest version? Not even the Windows update on my Win 7 helps.

Later on I try my Celcom Broadband stick and oh no!, problem again. The error messages
Now I don't know what other problems will I face next with this Windows 7 which is supposed to replace the bug infested Windows Vista. I am expecting more and more problem will be on the way as time go on.

Why Not Some Signal At Bukit Cahaya Seri Alam

For two days, 20 and 21 October 2010, I was at Bukit Cahaya Seri Alam to attend the Sports Tourism Outdoor Pursuit and Event Management Training organised by Paximej and Malaysia Sports Tourism Council

The two days seminar was held at the Perkampungan Budaya's Dewan Sri Pekan. This is the first time after 14 years visiting this Agricultural Park owned by Ministry of Agriculture Malaysia. Lots of development had been done with more venues for activities to cater for outdoor needs of individual. It is located just next to development, that is City of Shah Alam.

The Perkampungan Budaya has a very beautiful surrounding and setup imitating Malaysians rural Malay village with the main building and other smaller buildings scattered within the same location. I am not sure whether it can be a getaway destination for some reason. Firstly it is about 2.7 km from the main gate. Gate closed at 4.30pm. Rental per house is RM200. It might be nobody else staying in other houses. You can be very lonely. However that depends on individual preferences.

During the two days one of my personal setback is without phone or internet line. These are the two daily essentials for people of this era. Staying alone in the heart of the jungle can be very lonely and communication with the outside world can be considered lost. If there is the basic necessities besides water and electricity, this place can be a very conducive venue for seminars, meetings or gatherings. These activities needs the basic  communication facilities. The nearest celltower was(I think, based on my signal) is from Bukit Jelutong and the signal is very weak from one or two bars to zero and most of the time only on SOS signals.

I was thinking why not the Ministry concern just allocate a free plot of land for a celltower and shared with all the service provider within the park. People who come are not all team building groups (who might ban mobile phones) but including casual visitors.

Know Your Phone IMEI Function

IMEI stands for International Mobile Equiptment Identity. It is not just numbers but have some functions.
In India, India's Department of Telecommunications (DoT) had implement the if the IMEI for verification that the phone is genuine. Phones without the IMEI will be disconnected. The Indian initiative was due to the many low cost Chinese products and other unbranded phones that has been used in terrorists activities.

IMEI is a unique 15 digit number found usually in the battery compartment and is automatically transmitted if asked by the network. If you have a genuine mobile phone you can check by pressing *#06# and then the 15 digit number (e.g. 316725.10.4690216) will appear on your screen. This is the IMEI. Another option is to remove the back cover and battery and the number can be seen on the sticker together with the barcode.

finding_imeiYou can check your number online by going HERE and you can check all known information regarding manufacturer, model type, and country of approval of a handset.

What prompted me to write this post is because I received a BBM message about checking the validity of Blackberry Phones. Information regarding where the BB was manufactured can be checked using the seventh and eigth digit as follows:
10 - produced in Finland with best quality
02 or 20 - Asia with poor quality
08 0r 80 - produced in Germany with best quality
03 - Produce either in France or Canada with good quality
04 - Limited Edition produce specially for Canada with best quality in the world.

Therefore if your Blackberry do not have the above mentioned digits it might mean that you are having imitation BBs.

Your IMEI can also be used to block your phone in case the set is lost or being stolen by contacting your network mobile provider requesting them to block the IMEI number. The lost orc stolen phone will be not usable even the sim card has been changed because the new SIM card will request for the service with the IMEI and the blocked IMEI will ignore the request.

I am not sure whether Malaysia's network provider had implemented this safety procedures.

The Storm Came

Malaysia had landed the Curve 3G in about the same time as the launch of iPhone4 phones. Now another storm had landed on Malaysian shores.

Reported in The Star's Tech Central  in conjunction with appointment of another distributor for Malaysia.

" The Torch 9800 is a slider model that RIM said combines the best of two worlds - touchscreen functionality and a physical Qwerty keyboard - in one device.

More precisely, it looks as if RIM has slapped together two of its high-end models, the Storm and Bold, to produce another the Torch.

Measuring 148 x 62 x 14.6mm and weighing 162g, the Torch's 3.2in capacitive TFT touchscreen slides up to reveal a traditional BlackBerry Qwerty keyboard down below.
RIM's SurePress technology, which provides users with tactile feedback when the touchscreen is pressed , is missing from the Torch but the optical trackpad makes the cut.
The phone comes with 4GB of built-in memory that be expanded by up to 32GB via a microSD slot. A 4GB card comes bundled with the package.
Other notable features include a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, continuous autofocus, 11 scene modes, geotagging as well as VGA video capture with image stabilisation.
As one would expect, there's also WiFi along with Bluetooth connectivity, as well as an A-GPS chip for navigation.
First to get OS 6
The Torch 9800 is also the first BlackBerry device to come with the BlackBerry 6 operating system. The OS is billed as a true hybrid system, where users can do almost anything through touch, on the keypad or using the trackpad in between them.
RIM is expected to make the OS available on the Bold 9700 and 9650, the Curve 3G as well as Pearl 3G.
Some of the major enhancements in BlackBerry 6 include a new browser, which uses the same WebKit engine as the Apple iOS and Google Android browsers.
The new OS also offers a myriad of new media features such as a podcast application, enhanced music and video player, WiFi music synching to the PC on home network and synchronisation with Windows Media Player.
Also available is the Web Video Search app, which is a high-level browser for multiple online video sites, including YouTube, Dailymotion, ifilm, MobiTV, MSN and others.
BlackBerry 6 also features the universal search function where users are able to find just about any piece of content on the phone simply by typing in their query into the search field.
No official prices and availability were announched but interested users can start to pre-order the device now from their respective telcos.
