Its holiday week this time, and a first too for this year. At least to me I am having a week of leave beginning 24th January till 2nd of February. Of course I took the extra three days of leave after the two CNY public holidays. So that make up the total of days of leave. Since 1995, I have had no long leave because I switched my job from being a teacher to the present job. So as from then, my long leave will just be a few days to a week only. This three days leave is also the balance from last year carried forward. So that means I still am not using this years leave.
Took off from my house in KL to Alor Setar, my hometown. I use to spend my holidays in my hometown and very seldom go for holidays with my family. Unless during my outstation duty if it is during the school holidays then my family will follow and it will be free trips for them.
This time around I will will be going to Kelantan to accompany my nephew for an engagement maybe on first day of CNY. It will be a long trip but I am not taking along my car. So will be a passenger. How nice to be able to travel not in the drivers seat, after years of staying behind the steering wheel. I am excited to travel this time is because I can use my new Canon 1000D. As passenger I have more freedom to snap away whenever I want to.
I also have another plan in mind. Maybe going to Langkawi for a day trip. My son has been asking when I will take him to Langkawi after his unfortunate failed trip with a group of his friends last December. I registered him for the trip but unfortunately he was caught with chicken pox and has to stay behind. Going to Langkawi during holiday seasons is just like putting the neck on the chopping board. Price of goods will increase and at places exhorbitantly. However this week, public holiday is just on Monday and Tuesday, while the rest are working days. I am hoping that there will not be too many visitors to Langkawi and the "price mechanism" will be contained.
Since I used Touch N Go that is incorporated in my debit card, I pay my toll using the card. After all RM100 has already been heldback from my usable credit, why not use it. Eventhough I do not use the highway direct from Bukit Lanjan to Alor Setar Selatan which is more than RM54.40. I still took my usual modus operandi route that cost me not more than RM 30.00. It is a mix of highway and trunk road.
Have you ever wondered that using the TnG and SmartTag lane it is difficult or no opportunity at all to stop at the rest area at the toll plaza. These lanes are located at the middle most of the plaza and making it not safe to turn left into the rest area. It is some sort of if one use the dedicated lanes, one are forced not to use the facilities at the area. At the Sungai Dua toll plaza (South Bound) for example, I used to stop at the rest area for prayer but since using the TNG, there is no way for me to stop at the area anymore. Immediately after the plaza, there are dividers leading all the way after the exit from the rest area. And then one cannot make a U turn which is dangeruous and flouting the traffic law.
I am not sure whether I will be in Alor Setar for the whole duration which I intended to. I checked my email and learn that my friends from the Yakuza paintball team is planning to train for the My-NPL league scheduled during the middle of February. This is the first time I will be participating in the NPL League after our team emerge first runners-up in the Bloggers Paintball Tournament held recently. If there will be training on 1st February, then I will have to return to KL earlier bacause it is unfair for my team members for me to leave the training. We had a good teamwork during the tourney a d that spirit must be uphold. After all Together Everybody Achieve More.
Wishing all my Chinese readers Happy Chinese New Year.
