Charity Has No Barrier

Today there is a photo shared by readers on facebook and was dated 6th April 2012. Everybody who has a 'heart' will feel sympathy and very sorry for the fate of the innocent child and his parents and I think there are more people who views it with empathy. I post what has been shared and translate it into English to fulfil the language of this blog.

RELAY FOR LIFE 09

This year I make my presence at the Relay For Life more than last year. Since I have no appointments during the weekends, I attended the charity event even though not as official participants. Stayed from evening till late at night but went home for sleep before coming again the next morning.

The event organised by the National Cancer Soceity of Malaysia is part of the worldwide awareness campaign for prevention of cancer and in support of cancer victims. Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society signature activity giving opportunity to everyone in the community to participate in the fight against cancer.

The tagline for the campaign Giving Hope Celebrating Life.

Honorary Adviser Dato' Zuraidah Atan mingling with participants and making her presence felt. I think she and other member of the society is instrumental in making this campaign a success.

Waiting to be flagged off on the evening of 29th May 2009. Dato' Zuraidah flagged the relay. The survivors making their round after the flag off.
Even foreigners help make the event a joyous one. French and Nigerian flags can be seen. Who else will carry flagsof their own country. Philippines make their present felt too besides the US Embassy. This was the highlight of the night. Drag Queen was crowned. It really convert the atmosphere into a hot entertainment. Did not expect these women (read is as guys) do pull the attraction towards the stage. In the end Isis Natasya was the hot favourite of the crowd and walk away with the "crown"
Exercise, exercise and exercise. Participants were never bored taking part voluntarily to the music and presentation on stage by various groups and entertainers.
Whats for breakfast? Free cereals, of course. However it does not fill up with just one small cup (psstt!I took two) and not enough calories to walk lor. Unlike what you can get in your home on the breakfast table. Cereals with milk and then a small cup of Milo.
Its nice to take a walk in the morning. Morning sun is one of the source of Vitamin D for our body. Vitamin D plays an important role in the maintenance of organ systems.
Smokers die young. In one of my slide presentation during Sports Science courses I list out one of the advantages of smoking. Tidak sempat menikmati usia tua (Might not experience old age). Why? Smokers might die young. There is also arguments that my grandfather is a heavy smoker and he lived up to nearly 90 years old. My friend use to answer this, "That is your grandfather. Other peoples grandfather died younger." Whatever it is, smoking contributes to dying young for some people.
View from the grandstand.
Line dancing being one of the "exercise" regime for those present on the morning 0f 31 May 2009

Doing the MacarenaThe second day of the event was in conjunction with No Tobacco Day. Tobacco is one of the contributing factor to cancer.
On the second day, I join in the walk to show my support and while making the round I decided to find out how many participant who prepare luminaires in remembrance of their loved ones who succumbed to cancer remembers Allah. I only found this one after walking the whole 400 metres of the track.
Well, I might missed some of the others but I think I am sure this is the only one seen. As a Muslim I felt

Just Hang The Employer Instead

Seems that Nirmala Bonat did not educate and end the 'modern day slavery' towards domestic helpers. I feel so sad that these innocent maids who leave their families and loved ones in their home country to earn a decent living here in Malaysia are still being treated as slaves. Just can't imagine what kind of people are these who are so cruel to another human being. We always campaign about being kind to animals and yet there are humans who are not kind to humans.

The Star report today exposed more 'animalistic' behaviour of employer of domestic helpers who do not have a heart for another human being.  Do you have a heart to hang a human being to a ceiling fan and watched it as if its a Hollywood movie. Oh my god, these people should be banned from employing domestic helpers.

Terry Fox Run 2008 is over?

When I first read about Terry Fox run last year, I decided that I want to participate in next year's(2008) run. I missed last years run. Its a yearly event and not many people will remember that once a year date. Even birthdays are forgotten due to daily chores and run around in todays hectic environment what more something that is not part of personal belongings.

Only today (12 November 2008) I found out that the run is already over. So I missed the charity event again. And now have to wait for next year again which I might also forget about the date. I am wondering as why there is not much advertising about this yearly event. 1.com.my should spread the word around easily with today's borderless communication system. I am sure thousands of bloggers would like to help whistleblow the event for free since it is for charity. I am ready to do that in my blog but I must get the information. I don't think 1.com find it difficult to spread the event through emails since they have discussion threads on their websites. Once spread it will be like wild fire. Hope they will do that for next year's run. I am ready to advertise it on my blog. Who is Terry

Selangor - Tertiary Education Aid Next

First the Selangor Government implement the FREE water for the first 20 litre of processed water beginning Jun 2008.

Next the same government announced that they are giving out tertiary education aid to successful applicants to Selangor born student. It is another election promise to be implemented where UMNO can't do it for the last half a century.

SHAH ALAM: Selangor-born students can start applying for the RM1,000 in aid for tertiary education promised to them by the state government, starting July 1.

State Education, Higher Education and Human Capital Development Committee chairman Dr Halimah Ali said forms would be available on the Selangor government’s official website at www.selangor.gov.my or at any MP or assemblyman’s office. - The Star.

I am looking forward what is the respond from the opposition headed by Datuk KT. To them whatever the state government is doing is not right. Sheer jealuosy because they themselves can't implement it when they are are in power. Reasons? Less pocket money for the cronies. STOP.

Just RM 2.00 - Eat Your Heart Out

I first saw the RM2.00 shoppe in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah selling items imported mostly from China and everything on the shelves costs juat RM 1.90 to Rm 2.00. However at Kuala Kedah near Alor Setar the RM2.00 stall sells food for meals. The stall located near the Kuala Kedah ferry terminal was highlighted in Kosmo and it has attracted the Kedah State Chairman for Domestic Trade and Consumers Affair, V. Arumugam to honour the propreiter, En, Khalid Ahmad.

The stall opens daily from 6.am to 5.00 pm cater for all walks of life. Where can you find a restaurant that you only spend RM2.00 for a hearty meal inclusive of drinks of the consumers choice. What En. Khalid had done should be lesson for other businessman of the same trade that it pays NOT to be greedy. Normally food operators will blame the rising cost of raw material to justify their price. They will usually increase the price across the board even though raw material increase is just a fraction of the total cost. For example an increase of 10 cents for a tin of condensed milk will cause an increase of 10 cents too for a glass of drink. Is this fair to consumers. Its daylight robbery by the operator.

Recently we heard that Express bus operators in Alor Setar robbed passengers from RM5.00 to RM 10.00 and blame the fuel hike for the reason. The price of diesel was increased by RM1.00 and robbing a passenger RM10.00 each is too much. Taking a full capacity of an express bus of 34 passenger then they will earn RM340.00 out of thin air. Is that justified when the operator still buy diesel at the subsidised rate before the increase? These operators are really greedy senseless people who took the opportunity on the hardship of the community for their own pocket.

Breast Cancer- 8 Million Clicks Campaign

I blogged the event Relay For Life that was held at Bukit Jalil from 31st of May to 1st Jun 2008. The event was organised as part of the worldwide campaign in fighting cancer with the tagline Celebrate - Remember - Fight Back. National Cancer Society of Malaysia is campaigning that cancer is NOT a death warrant to one's life.

Tonight I read from a blog about another cancer related campaign and this is about breast cancer. It is Click to give FREE Mammogram. Go to the breast cancer site and get more details. Click on the poster below.

Lets help to make the 8 million clicks on the pink ribbon by month of June 08 (only a few more days to go!). This will enable their premier sponsor, Bare Necessities to donate $10,000.00 to help some women for a free mammogram. Especially the minorities low-income and working-poor women.

I am not sure whether women in Malaysia will benefit through this effort since the website is owned and operated by CharityUSA.com. However there is nothing to loose by clicking and help make the campaign a success. Any good deed will be rewarded in one way or another. Charity and Community service has no barrier.

Become Kedah's e SINAR Ambassador

Kedah state Government is in the process of registering poor families in the state. The state government categorize poor as those with a household monthly income of less than RM 660.00 or the same amount of per capita. They must also be a Malaysian citizen and residing in Kedah.

.

Families who fulfil the criteria stated by the government can apply to be registered and it will be a better option of listing the poor for eradication of poverty in the state. The campaign was posted in the Kedahlanie website. Bloggers can help too by whistleblowing this message and help locate the hardcore poor so that they can get the necessary help and support from the government and lessen their sufferings.

Relay For Life KL 2008

National Sports Council Training Ground
Bukit Jalil, Malaysia
Registration 4.00 p.m.
Relay starts : 6.00 p.m.

'Celebrate. Remember. Fight Back!'

Tonight the event Relay For Life will be held at the National Sports Council Training Track in Bukit Jalil. The event organised by the National Cancer Society of Malaysia is to coincide with the weekend of World No Tobacco Day and International Cancer Survivor's Day,

We celebrate the advances in cancer, knowing that more cancers are being prevented and for those with cancer, more lives are being saved. We remember the loved ones lost and vow to fight back to make a difference in the lives of the future generation.

What Is It?

It is an overnight team event in a carnival-like atmosphere filled with fun, comradeship and festivities. Participants have lots of fun as they challenge themselves and take turns to complete a relay style walk/ run. It is a time when people you know and people you don't know team up to raise public awareness about cancer in the community and to raise funds to find the cure.

How It Began?

Relay For Life began in 1985 in Tacoma, Washington when Dr. Gordon Klatt walked for 24 hours to raise money for the American Cancer Society. He raised $27,000 that first year. Since then, Relay For Life events around the world have raised a billion dollars to support programmes aimed at eliminating cancer.

It Doesn't Pay To Get Publicised?

Publicity increase one's popularity. Many people love to get publicity in all way possible. With publicity one gets known and more people will know you. But at times publicity results otherwise. A case of Pak Mali who get publicity from Harian Metro result in him losing his shelter.

.

Malah, pemilik bangunan kedai berhampiran pula bermurah hati membekal air bersih dan saya menggunakan tandas kedai mereka,” - MyMetro.

Pak Mali or Hashim Awang who has been living on a tree house for the past four years lost his home when the tree where his house was located were chopped down by the Kangar Municipal Authority. It was reported in New Straits Times today.

His only wish was to spend his twilight years in his tree house after his wife died two years ago. On Wednesday afternoon that dream was shattered when his home was demolished by the Kangar Municipal Council.

The 65-year-old masseur could only sit and watch helplessly as the giant excavator tore down his home
.- NST.

Hashim initially used his tree house as a resting hut when he worked as a fisherman. He would change his clothes and take naps there after returning from sea every afternoon.

Hashim said he did not know what he planned to do next.

"All I wanted was to live in the tree house by myself. Some friends have invited me to stay with them, but I don't know what to do,"

Council president, Faezan Omar said the tree house was an illegal structure and that Hashim had agreed to vacate it. -NST

Maybe the tree house is illegal but the three is still legal. Then why cut down the tree when only what is on the tree is illegal. So, if a building were to be used for illegal activities or any unlicensed business which deem to be illegal, will the whole building be demolished too?

29 March 2008 - Earth Hour 2008

Tonight 29th March 2008 is the Earth Hour 2008 Campaign. This campaign is a self concious campaign to help save energy for future generation. Not much can be saved within one hour for the future but collectively it means a lot. This campaign started in Sydney On 31 March 2007, 2.2 million people and 2100 Sydney businesses turned off their lights for one hour - Earth Hour. If the greenhouse reduction achieved in the Sydney CBD during Earth Hour was sustained for a year, it would be equivalent to taking 48,616 cars off the road for a year.

I had aready sign up for this campaign on 9th February 2008 @ 01:06:53 hours and received a promotional website by Earth Hour HERE. You can also view Malaysian Business Supporters for this campaign HERE. Are you coming?

60 Earth Hour

Have you registered yourself for the 60 earth hour? I just registered before posting this blog. This is my personal page at 60 Earth Hour. Click and register.

What is 60 earth hour?

It is a program (campaign) for saving energy consumption. It started as a massive collective effort started in Sydney in 2007 whereby 2.2 million people and 2100 Sydney businesses turned off their lights for one hour - Earth hour. The effort saved Sydney's consumption by 10.2% for one hour. It took place on 31st March 2007.

The campaign started with a question: How can we inspire people to take action on climate change? and the answer was; Ask the people of Sydney to turn off their lights for one hour.

With Sydney icons like the Harbour Bridge and Opera House turning their lights off, and unique events such as weddings by candlelight, the world took notice. Inspired by the collective effort of millions of Sydneysiders, many major global cities are joining Earth Hour in 2008, turning a symbolic event into a global movement.

Originating in Sydney in 2007, the Earth Hour campaign has now gained global attention. As a result, on 8pm March 29, 2008 millions of people in some of the world’s major capital cities will unite and switch off for Earth Hour.

Sharlinie - Help Find Her

After Nurin's abduction case has cool down even the culprit has yet to be found, now another young innocent girl strike the alarm again and massive manhunt launched. what everybody is hoping is this latest development does not end like Nurin. Everybody is keeping their finger crossed that Sharliene will return in one piece and alive.

The missing Sharliene is followed by the missing of a six-year-old was said to had followed a man but was later found in Taman Sri Rampai, Setapak.

Sharliene, went missing while on her way home from a playground near her house at Jalan PJS 2C/11N in Taman Medan.

As usual at this time of difficulty there are still people who take the opportunity to make the parents more miserable, some with just irresponsible SMSes. Please remember this incident is a serious case and not take opportunities to be a good Samaritan if things are not confirmed. Not only the parents are affected but the authority were also made to act and in the end just a wild goose chase.

The police has conduct a nationwide search and a photofit picture of the suspect was released by the police and it was said to resemble the one that involve Nurin. Is the same man responsible? This is the question. If it is let us all pray that Sharliene do not end up like Nurin.

SMS Rakan Cop.
