I Won The Blackberry

It was one of a memorable night for me after turning into a blogger. Oopppssss...can I call myself a blogger? BTW. anybody who blogs can call himself a blogger right? OK....why it was memorable. I attended the prize presentation ceremony for the Blog4FT blog writing contest organised by the Ministry of Federal Territories and Wellbeing at Sime darby Convention Centre.

I am satisfied for whatever effort I had put into writing and posting my work at ....as I Travel  that I entered for the blog writing contest even though did not win the grand prize. Out of more than 4,000 blogs submitted, to be in the top 25 prize winners is, to me an achievement and motivation.

My blog, the series of Walking-walking Kuala Lumpur had won the special jury prize and I took home a Blackberry Curve and a Celcom Broadband while I won another Celcom Broadband stick for being the Top 5 contributors. The Celcom Broadband stick comes with a free one month subscription.

Now I am officially a Blackberry user. It was a dream to own a Blackberry before this and now I got it for Free.

UniFi - Is It Worth Subscribing?

The answer lies to the individuals. For me it is nor worth. At RM 149 for 5Mbps it is unaffordable considering todays cost of living.

UniFi comes with:

  • Hi Speed Broadband
  • IPTV
  • Free Voice call
When I want to subscribe to Broadband, Yes, I need the high speed but is it confirmed that as a consumer I can get the speed that I wanted? Wimax was promised to change the surfing lifestyle of internet user with higher speed and one company has the gut to tell us that they provide the highest speed on the cyberhighway. However when I subscribed, I only get shitty speed and not much better than an ordinary dial up and wired internet connection. Service provider will always hide behind the 'at best effort' tagline to cover their weaknesses and unability to provide that is promised.

What is IPTV service actually? Will it be providing the same channel as what is provided by ASTRO? If so then why waste more money when ASTRO is already too high a cost for the consumer to pay. I think IPTV is not a necessity to be bundled with the UniFi and consumers are forced to subscribe to services that they don't need. Why must subscribers subsidise TM for the IPTV subscription that they linked to. Malaysians have more than enough time being glued to the 'idiot box' and then again to the desktops then again with Blackberrys on the streets, we are losing our social life to technologies. So, I don't need the IPTV service.

UniFi also comes with Free voice calls. It is really basic needs today. Everybody need to make voice calls either for social relationship and business etc. Above all it is free. Now do I have to carry my desktop or laptop around so that I can make free voice calls?. It is much better to carry my mobile phone for voice calls.  I am not going to talk all day after all.  Of course this statement make me look stupid. Hahahaha........

With UniFi and NBI what has the consumer to gain after all.

Coming Soon - Hulu selangor

Condolence to the family of late Dato' Dr Zainal Abidin bin Ahmad  who passed away on 25th March 2010. Al Fatihah.

Now Hulu Selangor will be the talk of the town. It is a field test whether PR can retain the seat under which all the three state seats are under BN. The result of the last GE in 2008:
N 5   Hulu Bernam      15,549 voters      BN   3549 majority
N 6   Kuala Kubu Baru 18,212 voters    BN    448 majority
N7     Batang Kali   27,832 voters           BN    2179 majority

Hulu Selangor has 63,593 registered voters during the 12th General Election in 2008 and out of which 47,845 voters cast their votes giving PKR a slim198 majority.

Who will be nominated to be the next MP for this constituency. Already the tussle has begun. On the BN side, MIC and UMNO eye the seat. Former MB Tan Sri Muhammad Mohd Taib from UMNO and G. Palinivel were seen as ppssible candidate. PKR Indian leaders too are in favour of an Indian candidate as mentioned by R. Sivarasa.

Malays constitute 53.9% , Chinese 26.7% ,Indians 19% and 0.41% others.

What will be the highlight in this coming buy election is I am sure all the frogs from Perak and Penang will be croaking in Hulu Selangor during the campaign.

Not The Good News After The Excitement

Consumers let down by cap on UniFi packages

It was excitement after the Minister of Information announced that PM will present good news during the launching of the National Broadband Initiative (NBI).

For me I am expecting a better coverage and a cheaper internet experience.

With TM services we have still to be wired when today people are getting more mobile. So the NBI is not good news after all.

My Favourite Surfing Spot

The internet revolution is growing fast. Gone are the days when one has to sit in the study or living room to get connected to the internet. I still remember at my office in the 90s, there is only one desktop connected to the internet and downloading files to read takes a big chunk of time. However I am proud that I was among the first few who has the luxury to surf the internet back then on dial-up of course. Besides I am also proud to have the opportunity to follow the internet development from the days of Jaring that are being used mostly by schools as a learning tools. Then come the dial-up followed by Streamyx. After a few years wiereless came into the picture and followed by WiFi.

WiFi has made fast inroad into the surfing experience of Malaysians and the arrival of Broadband generate more interest among net savvy citizen to jump onto the wagon. After a few years of WiFi came the Wimax that covers a wider area. Wimax provide a new surfing experience when users are more mobile and can get connected to the cyberspace anywhere and wherever they one.

I follow all those mentioned development and now I am also riding on the Broadband waves. Wireless Broadband enables me to surf wherever I can. I have turned myself into an internet addict. My surfing experience can be considered as always on.

To be able to get connected to mobile WiFi network one has to use the mobile modem. Malaysia can be considered lucky because the major Telcos has come up with their own Broadband plan and consumer has no trouble to choose the best service suited to their surfing experience. The latest technology that enter the Malaysian market is the Wimax which operates at a faster speed compared to EDGE, HSDPA WAP and 3G. Green Packet being the first operator to launch Wimax introduced a portable modem, Wiggy, for laptop.
Wiggy that run on the USB slot enables user to roam far and wide anywhere in the P1 Wimax coverage. It enable user to surf at a blazing speed of 10 Mbps. Read more HERE.
Everybody has some peculiar lifestyle in doing things. Some are taboo related. Some needs a better environment. This practice of doing things affect surfing lifestyle too. With more mobility people tend to surf at more places not to forget some with their favourite surfing spots.

For me, my favourite surfing spot is my home after work. This is where I will place my netbook (that serve as the CPU) and connected to the monitor. I will be sitting here to surf the internet until I go to sleep.
Yes, this is my favourite surfing spot. First it is near the open balcony and wireless signal is much better. Secondly, I can get cool air for free and thirdly I can look outside to see the green leaves to destress my eyesight and rest my eyes. Too much straining on the computer screen can be a health hazard. A few weeks ago I can even see the KL Tower in the distance from where I am sitting.

I also surf  at the office performing my official assignment and do not depend on my office network.  Wireless Broadband had given me the freedom to surf. Whether its office, home or on the move, I will always be able to get connected and never worry about searching for WiFi Hotspots anymore whenever I travel.

Whenever I travel on assignments four items will always travel with me; my mobile phone, my camera, my netbook and my mobile modem. On the move my favourite surfing spot will be a place where there is comfort and food available. I will choose a place with the wall behind where the monitor screen will not be exposed. The first reason is the screen will be clearer because there will not be any glare and secondly, other people can't see what is on my screen because I want some privacy. You think I want to surf porn, ah? Hahahaha.........Then I will position myself so that I face an open view so that while surfing, I can enjoy my favourite teh 'O' ais limau with either roti canai banjir or cakes or whatever while at the same time can oogle girls passing by....hahahaha.......mata keranjag.....

This posting is done as an entry for the Nuffnang Project Alpha Instant Cash Blogging an avenue for bloggers to earn some pocket money by blogging. Bloggers, you are still not late to join in the contest because it is now in the third week and the Project Alpha will be launched in April 2010. This project has gone into season 2 this year and Project Alpha Season 2 is presented by Adidas Action 3 and supported by P1 and MAS

Whats The Best Vehicle Insurance Coverage

Thats it just a simple question and the answer depends on the satisfaction level of the individual towards his/her insurance coverage. What I mean here is insurance coverage for your car. I am considering of changing my insurance coverage from AIG an American Brand to Malaysian product. I have been subscribing to AIG for a few years already and the reason being AAM is one of its agent. When I subscribe to AIG those days, I was provided with FREE towage in case of my car breakdown. But after THIS  experience and I promised the guy who answered me  on the  24 hour Toll Free  line that I will change my insurance coverage from AAM to another company. I am keeping my word so that AAM has lost another loyal customer.

I know many of my readers have cars or motorbike and been using different insurance coverage. Hope my readers will response to this posting. Is it Etiqa, Kurnia or the many Takafuls.

My car is an old faithful Proton Saga 1.5i ans has been on comprehensive cover ever since I bought it in 1997 and now my NCB is already at maximum. My present coverage will expire on 17 July 2010 and now I am looking for another insurance company.

The criteria is not based on what gift they are going to give but the convenient and full after sales support. Vehicle owner buy insurance not because they need it but because it is compulsory. When it is compulsory, then insurance companies must also provide the much needed service by being their customer.

Being an old car and i travel all over West Malaysia, my car will be susceptible to breakdowns. When a car breakdown most has to be towed from the breakdown location to a workshop. This tow charge is the most miserable problem for the car owner. He is thinking of how much to pay for the repair and the tow trucks operators are paractising their cut throat skills on these so called victims of car breakdown. You read my blog about this? A 20 metre tow will cost me RM80.00.

Which insurance provide FREE towage for breakdown and other after sales service?

I Just Love Good Smelling People

Take some time to stare at the picture and concentrate. Just imagine the fresh air and the surrounding greenery. Look around the house and try to feel the freshness. Can you smell the fragrance from this surrounding that is far from the polluted cities and urban environment where most of us live in.
Before you proceed just spare a few moment and practice your concentration skill. Look for some clue that can make this picture smell good.
If you still can't get the feel then there are still other ways to make it happen. And if you can't get the feel did you ask yourself why? Most of us might blame on the old dilapidated house, the compound that can be considered barren without any decoration of flowering plants.

This condition can happen to us living beings. Our body emits smells especially from areas where sweat use to settle. Under your armpit, on your neck, under your chin, behind your ears and in between....oooppppssss...I am not going to mention it. You can guess.

If we go to shopping malls where hypermarket are present, definitely one feature that is present is the perfume section displaying and selling varied brands. There are perfume for women and there are for guys too. Nowadays in modern guys toiletries bag as well as women's handbag one compulsory item is...errrr....no not condom......but deodorants and perfumes. Definitely more in womens handbag because there will be lipsticks, compact powder, mascara etc.

Why take all the trouble to carry all these things around when one can just store it neatly on the dressing table in their home? Just dab them on, spray it wherever necessary and then walk out of the house. But why? For one thing they want to be always smelling good. Perfume and deodorants especially with alcohol content evaporates into the air and thus returning the body to their normal smell. So these have to be renewed because of that reason: smelling good.

Everybody want to smell good. Whether they go out for leisurely walk on weekends, going to work on weekdays or even go to the gym, they still want the environment of smelling good. What is your immediate reaction if you pass by a guy or women who seems to be perspiring with sweat? Do you hold your breath? Well.....err....I use to do that.... the simple answer.....I don't like smelly smells...I just love good smell. So to feel the good smell you must always stay at the beauty counter, do you? Well...maybe not anymore.

You have heard about Adidas? I am sure most of us knew it. When we see Adidas and hear the word Adidas, I am pretty sure what comes into your mind is sports related items: the shoes, the socks, the sport shorts, jerseys, football and other balls with the three black stripe etc. etc. etc. Am I right?

Yes actually you are right. However Adidas did not just stop at sports apparels and items. They have ventured into the smell good market. Adidas has now an array of personal care products tailored for people who lead an active lifestyle under its Adidas Action 3 range. People who lead an active lifestyle really need the right stuff to keep them feeling good. The picture below are some of the prize that i won during the Project Alpha Season I blogging contest. Adidas present every basic requirement for active people. Just look for yourself and I don't think I need to list out the Adidas range of personal care because the picture itself tells the story. Its a full range of products from head to toe and not forgetting your shoes too where the worst smell can originate from. With these, you can leave behind your bad smells.

Then as soon as you leave your bathroom there is still more Adidas Action 3 product for the finale. There's this Adidas Action 3 Dry Max system for both sexes with the tagline Adidas's best defence against sweat with triple action (thus the name Action 3). Get these all new Intensive Anti Perspirant that comes in different condition and needs. With these you can forget the whitening effect because of its anti-whitening effect and hey....for Muslims never worry of using it during prayer. Its 0% alcohol content and Muslims, remember if god loves people who smells good what more we ordinary human being created by Him. Surely we all love to feel good too.

Go, get your Adidas Action 3 because I just love good smelling people.
