The Star reports that as at 4pm Friday, motorists heading south on the North-South Expressway from Penang were diverted to pay their toll fares at a brand new plaza, located about 800m away from the Jelapang toll plaza. Does this mean an extra ringgit for toll?
However northbound traffic still has to collect the transit ticket at the Jelapang booth until another booth which is schedule to complete in October this year can be used. The new plaza was opened by Works Minister, Datuk Mohd Zin Mohamed.
“The (reason for the) new plaza is also largely due to the frequency of accidents occurring at the southbound lane of the Jelapang toll. - The Star.
My concern: Number of unforseen death and injuries might be decreased. I will have to fork more for toll whenever I travel from Kuala Lumpur to Alor Setar and vice versa. Now beside increasing budget on petrol (no choice) my normal toll for a single journey from KL to Alor Setar is not more than RM 20.00 will also be increased.
