General - A Government Agency Service

Last month I wrote a blog tittled A worst Dream That is a Reality. Today I started to build a new life. One of the mail I received when I checked the pigeon hole at the office is my first recovery. My Affin Master Card Debit Card has arrived. How efficient the bank is processing my replacement. Later on the day I get the PIN for the Debit card. So I validate the card with the bank.

After Lunch I went out to Seri Petaling to apply for my Mykad replacement. There is a new Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara office at Endah Parade, popularly known as Carrefour. It is situated on the fifth floor. The process was a breeze. It was completed within 10 minutes from the moment I step into the office (justify government servant getting pay rise at the end of this month?). Of course there were not many client at the moment. But what I wondered was that there is nothing done to verify that I really lost my Mykad even though I brought along my International Passport and a Police report.

Actually, you don't need a police report to reapply for lost MyKad. They will just process it base on you claim that you've lost you IC. The thing is, once you reapply for new MyKad, your old MyKad be automatically become obselete and cannot be use in any electronic transaction. How the staff can tell that the applicant is the real person? Your thumbprint as the odd of similar thumbprint on different person is huge.

To tell the different between you old MyKad and your new MyKad, on the back of MyKad you'll you IC number plus two additional digit. This represent how many times you have reapply for MyKad. Eg, 02 denotes that your MyKad is the second version. The first version is already obselete. I hope this will help you. Pardon my English.

Thank you frossonice first for visiting my blog and secondly for leaving a comment. I had my new MyKad with ease and tue they didn't even asked for the police report. The reason I made the police report is to safe guard myself, in case the "theif" might misuse yhat lost card for some illegal purpose and so I have something to prove (in court, if it is being so) that I had lost MyKad on from a certain time.

regards.
