Today I received my Affin Bank Mastercard debit card. The difference between credit card and debit card is that I have to have money in my account to use the card. That means I do not owe the bank any money to spend. Maybe by using this card I can control my expenditure.
When using a credit card I do not feel the limitation to spend and might end up in debt with the banks.
Moreover I only have to pay RM 20 a year instead of abt RM 60 for a credit card. I first use the card to pay room charge at Concorde, Kuala Lumpur for my guest from Jamaica.
According to the bank, I can use the card wherever there is a mastercard logo displayed but to my dismay, The Promenade Hotel in Kota Kinabalu did not accept the card giving it a debit card status. Why can The Condorde in Kuala Lumpur accept debit card but Promenade in Kota Kinabalu did not. I hope this blog is read by someone from Mastercard and I can get some answers.
