Start Voting For LEGOLAND® Schools LEGO Building Contest

Legoland Malaysia is counting its days before the main gate will be officially open to visitors on 15 September 2012. Bracing for the day, Legoland Malaysia is keeping the excitement and the latest activity was the Schools LEGO Building Contest launched by Its General Manager, Mr Siegfried Boerst, on 17th July at SK(P) Sultan Ibrahim in Johor Bahru. 

Fifteen teams out of 66 participations from schools in Malaysia and Singapore were selected as finalists in Round 2 after the dateline to upload their creation on a dedicated micro-site before on 17th August.

Voting officially starts on 19th August after the finalists and photo of their creation was uploaded to the dedicated section of the parks official website. 

A winner will be selected from each of the three categories: Category A: 4-5 years old; Category B: 6-10 years old; and Category C: 11-14 years old.

The winning teams will be picked based on the designs with the highest number of votes per contest category. The winners will be announced on 3^rdSeptember. This will be followed by an official prize-giving ceremony where the winning teams will receive free passes to visit LEGOLAND^® Malaysia. As part of the contest, the first 25 schools that registered for the contest in Malaysia also received three sets of LEGO^® Education Sets. Two lucky schools also received invites to the Park for a sneak preview.

LEGOLAND Malaysia Is Coming!!!!!!!

Many people in Malaysia are still unaware that Malaysia will be having a new tourist attraction come this October 2012. Yes, that's the expected month when LEGOLAND Malaysia will open its door to the public to have fun. LEGOLAND is not just another theme park as what he have had in a few places like Sunway Lagoon, Desa water Park, Lost World of Tambun or Gambang Water Park to mention a few. LEGOLAND is just another upgrading from the fun that kids around the world have been when they play with LEGO bricks.LEGOLAND is inspired from the popular LEGO Bricks and pieces with an addition that parents too can get involve and have fun like and together with their kids without feeling being embarassed or feel like a kid.

Nusajaya, in Iskandar Malaysia, Johor will house the 76 acre theme park, a sixth in the world and the first in Asia. It will have 40 different rides and visitors can enjoy seven different themes. Watch this as a preview of what visitors will get.

All the 7 themed parks radiates from Miniland (refer to park map below) and you can move from there to the various parks on the mini trains.

Recently I and two bloggers and a reporter were invited for a site visit and witness the 65% completed construction and the Observation Tower that stand at 60m is already in place. View the timebase video of the Observation Tower was built......

This Obervation Tower will be the highest structure within LEGOLAND Malaysia and can accomodate 50 visitors per ride or 1,000 visitors per hour. The viewing cabin will take visitors up to a height of 41m and as it rises, will meander in a constant circular motion in 50 seconds. If you had the experience riding the Taming Sari Tower in Malacca, you have the idea and thrill of what this tower at LEGOLAND Malaysia will give you.

Fabricated by Intamin, a Switzerland-based company that specializes in building such structures in theme park worldwide.

Safety functions will be tested and approved by TUV Munich and DOSH authorities and a third party inspection body prior to opening.

Do not worry about accommodation if you are around Iskandar Malaysia because the park is reachable within less than an hour and visitors can even stay in Singapore and come using the Tuas Second Link or the Causeway.

Visitors can still stay in Johor Bharu Skudai or Kulai before LEGOLAND hotel open the door in its future phase of development. 

Opening Hours

The park will be open from 10.00am to 6.00pm. Last to join the line for rides will be at 6.00. but.........Hey, why wait until 6.00 when you have very limited time to enjoy the rides. 

Prices and Tickets

Hurry up to get the advantage of discounted rate for annual ticket. It is open for a limited period and those who buy now will enjoy the facilities from opening date until 31 December 2013.

Oh ya....before I forget, the water park will be in the future development of LEGOLAND because for this phase only 31 is being used for the main theme park.

Going To LEGOLAND Malaysia Site Visit - Bloggers Day

Receiving emails in my box daily is a normal activity on my internet experience. However one day I receive an email that is a bit special which at first I thought it was another spam mail since lately there are many mails that seems to originate from innocent looking sender with normal names.

I was quite delighted after reading the mail to find out that it was an invitation from Millenium Associates writing on behalf of Legoland Malaysia to visit the build site and witnessing the countdown into the final six month of Legoland’s construction.  ".......we would like to invite you visit the build site, to trace with us the tremendous progress in the last 2 years and witness the park as it comes to life". The event will be Bloggers Day: Legoland Malaysia Site Visit.

I feel that it is an honour to be chosen among thousands of bloggers in Malaysia given the opportunity to visit a new landmark to be written in the tourism book of Malaysia : an opportunity not to be missed. For me and other bloggers invited, we will be part of history as among the few to see and experience first hand the growth of the first LEGOLAND theme park in Asia and the sixth in the world after :

LEGOLAND Malaysia’s theme park ground breaking was done in 2009 at Nusa Jaya, Johor, Malaysia the and scheduled to be open in 2012. The theme park house over 40 interactive rides, shows and attractions. Wikipedia states ;  It will be the centrepiece of a 5,500,000 sq ft (510,000 m²) integrated complex in the Nusa Cemerlang industrial park, within the Iskandar Malaysia economic region, consisting of a lifestyle retail centre, offices, hotels, service apartments and residential units.


Legoland Malaysia targets 1.5 million visitors when it opens its doors and Legoland Malaysia is ready in 2012, it will offer a different experience from other theme parks, including Universal Studios in neighbouring Singapore.

Since ground breaking in 2009, LEGOLAND Malaysia is a dream in the making for the last three years. As we count down into the last six months of Legoland Malaysia’s construction, we would like to invite you visit the build site, to trace with us the tremendous progress in the last 2 years and witness the park as it comes to life.

The date of the visit will be on 31 Mar 2012 (Saturday) and of course I feel excited for an adult to be in toyland. Watchout for more posting about it after my visit.
