No! It’s Not A School Bus

We are always being presented with development in Sabah through our mainstream medias. The people of Sabah has been benefitting from the development programs implemented by the government from time to time. All areas of development has been planned for the sake of the rakyat.

Last February I went for a holiday to Sabah and on one of my trip to Ranau I saw this. I took this photo of school children going back from school along the way when I was travelling from Kota Belud towards Ranau. I am not sure what's the name of the place where the school was and to which village they are heading but this is the best means of transport for them to go to school. At least they do not have to walk. However is this a safe means of transportation for school children? I am sure the pickup do not have licence to transport these children but the children have no choice. It was a long journey until the pickup stops on the roadside to drop these primary school children. Is this a safe practice?

common sight here...not proud of it, but it could be the only mean of transportation because some villages only rely on 4WD or lorries, pick ups to go in and out... =(

Thank you AngeL BeaR for your comment. When I first arrive in Kota Marudu by Land Rover in 1976, the condition was worse than what I saw and post the picture .
