At the time I write this post the result of Permatang Pasir by election show that PAS won the seat again with a smaller majority compared to 8th March 2008.
Live coverage from bloggers on the ground using coveritlive and Pakatan Bloggers in Permatang Pasir reported that the unofficial result is known. As at 7.30 report, PAS candidate Hj Salleh Man garnered 9618 votes while Rohaizat Man 5067 with 83 spoilt votes. This means PAS won with a majority of 4551 votes. During the last election 11,004 voters voted for PAS Mohammad Hamdan Abdul Rahman while another 5571 voted for Ahmad Sahar Shuib from UMNO. Majority was 5433 votes. Pas Mohammad Hamdan also won the 2004 election with 8,057 votes compared to BN's 7378. Majority was 679.
This result brings the margin 7-1 for Pakatan Rakyat. This is also a scene never seen before in during by election when opposition can't win due to BN using all government machinery. Dawn of New Malaysia is on the way.
UPDATE
Official PAS won the seat
As usual Buletin Utama portrays Pakatan Rakyat as being at fault on all untoward incidents during the by election. To then BN and their supporters are angels who abide by all rules and law. In the morning I was following the coveritlive sessions from a blogger on the ground and he reported about the incident whereny "mat rempits" from Kepala UMNO met with a minor accident and one reader responded that the incident will be manipulated by the media. He was right as what was aired over Buletin Utama.
SPR chairman was interviewed and one point he made was trying to implement the NO CAMPAIGN on polling day. Of course Pakatan Rakyat will have to obey but what about BN. They still have the electronic media to do so. Will it be fair?
