Road Sign Issue

When DBKL changed the name of Jalan Alor to Jalan Kejora, everybody make noise in KL which resulted in returning to its former name.  So now Jalan Kejora is known as Jalan Alor. There is nothing wrong with the name Alor in the first place. The word itself is already local so it is not necessary to be renamed.

Some time ago there was also people making noise la regarding the use of Jawi script in tandem with the Romanise name of roads in KL especially in Bukit Bintang. Why the Jawi script has turned into an issue? Is it politically motivated?

Now there is another issue still on road signs. Its in Penang. Penang started using multilugual road signs in certain areas. So this time UMNO are the one making the noise. CM Guang Eng then pointed out that in KL and again in Bukit Bintang, road signages are in Romanise and Jawi. If one were to loiter around Bukit Bintang there is clear indication that tourist from Middle East made up a part of the crowd. Hence the use of Jawi signages to show directions to them is very useful. It is common in most places around the world where languages not using Roman character is used. Even in Hong Kong and Macau use the Romanise character together with the Chinese character because it can provide convenience to tourist especially. Why make an issue on small matters.  So what is wrong in using Jawi script for the same name in Romanise character?

Small matters turned into big issues and from my perspectives these politicians just like to politicise matters to show that they care. Bullshit!!.

Sometimes I think those politicians got nothing better to do other than changing road sign name.
