Is There Tolerancy Here?

Visit Combined Forces of Malaysian Bloggers blog and read a posting by Patrick Wee titled 'Thoughts Before Malaysia Day, September 16' . I like this paragraph which needs one to read with an open mind;

My late father told me that our our forefathers came to Terengganu during the 1300s. I thought that it was a bit far fetch but there is an old well there that used to mark the family's genealogy and listed that we were no less than eight generations in Terengganu. In fact, the great Admiral Cheng Ho noted a thriving Chinese community that was in existence when he landed in Terengganu before proceeding to Melacca. I cannot really verify how long we have been here but it is safe to say that we have been here for a very long time. Longer than some present day bumiputeras who migrated from what was then Java or Sumatra who refer us as "pendatang". There are many like me though not a lot. But does it really matter how many generations you have to be here before you are considered truly Malaysian ? Is not citizenship enough ? Isn't being born on this land enough ? My father served in the army and fought the Indonesians during the confrontation. Is that not enough? . Read more.......

How do you relate this to Bukit Bendera UMNO's Chief statement that sparked outcry from the Chinese Community leaders. Me?...I have no comments. If Chinese are labeled pendatang, the Malays too are pendatangs either from Champa or from Sumatra.

A multi racial country like ours should practice tolerancy between the various races and beliefs. One area that has been an issue is the use of the Jawi script. Jawi is just another script like Romanise script, Chinese scripts or Hindi script. And I do not see whats wrong in using that together.

Whats your comments about what I received in my email? Undated pictures.

(My question, why does the Chinese and Hindi character not deleted too and leaves only the Roman character to be fair to everybody? Or is that street sign being photoshopped for the 12th GE?)

(Gambar: Teresa yang anti Tulisan jawi)
Note: Teresa should remember that her supporters are not noly Chinese but Malays and Indians too who voted for her in the recent 12th GE.

Another prargarph from the email: Teresa Kok mengepalai satu petisyen penduduk di

What's the difference between Jawi and Chinese and Tamil scripts. If Chinese character and Hindi character can be used, why not Jawi? Is this tolerancy in Malaysia?
