As usual when price of petrol is increased the government will compare our price with other countries. Uusally the comparison will show that price in our country is much cheaper than others. I can't remember if there any comparison between our price and that in Brunei. I was in Brunei last year and was shocked to find a full tank of diesel in a Toyota Vios is just 9.00 Brunei Dollar. Just wondering why we do not compare with Brunei but to other countries like Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand.
We are an oil producing country and the national petroleum Petronas is profiting by millions and yet we have to pay higher for petrol. Below is a better comparison of petrol in Malaysia and other countries. I copied this table from HERE.

I would like to add the comment made by BMyself on my shoutbox. He commented that Vios runs on petrol. Wll, I am not a car enthusiast and know nothing much about cars. However this is the experience. When I was in Bandar Seri Begawan, this friend of mine came and fetch me at the hotel to his house in Kuala Belait, at the border of Brunei and Sarawak. On the way back, I offered to pay for his fuel. At the petrol station, I asked how much he would like to fill up and I mention is BND30.00 enough. He stared at me confusedly and asked back where will he keep the fuel.
I asked why and he told me that a full tank is just BND9.00 and he mentioned that his Vios runs on diesel. Well, I paid BND 9.00 for a full tank.
