I was on my way from Air Hitam Kedah towards Alor Setar on the second day after the new state government of Kedah being elected. Upon reaching the town of Kubang Rotan, there was a jam of about 3 kilometres because there is a traffic light at a junction into Kubang Rotan and Gunung Keriang. The jam along this stretch has been a teething problem and will be worse when more housing estate is sprucing up on both side of the road.
Maybe the new Kedah government will look into the matter.

What I am going to publish in this post is the rampant flouting of the traffic law by motorist to beat the queue. At times the queue drag to more than 3 kilometres and during this situation motorist will beat the queue by using the motorcycle lanes. The lane is wide enough to fit comfortably any car or small lorry. This misuse can be seen not only at this area but all along the trunk road up towards the north. Cars will cut into the motorcycle lanes to jump the queue. It seems that this rampant practice is not being checked by the authority exp the traffic police. A motorcycle lane is for the safety of motorcyclist since they are very vulnerable to accidents.
