Whether one realise or not January 2008 has two New Year. The whole world had celebrated New Year 2008 on 1st of January according to he Gregorian Calendar.
On 10th January 2008 it will be 1st of Muharram, the New Year in a Muslim calendar. This Muharram it will be year 1429. So if one hasn't made or forgot to make a new year resolution before 1st January there is still another start of the year to make resolution. Or maybe just want to renew or re validate last years resolution.
Muharram is so called because it was unlawful to fight during this month; the word is derived from the word ‘haram’ meaning forbidden. It is held to be the most sacred of all the months, excluding Ramadan. Some Muslims fast during these days. The tenth day of Muharram is called Yaumu-l 'Ashurah, meaning, ‘the tenth day’, and it is a day of voluntary fasting. - From Wikipedia.
