Yesterday I went to my son's school to settle his school fees. Just receive the letter informing about the fees just last week, since the school did not collect the fee on the first day of school. I think the school is trying to play safe since when the school reopens, there was grouses and grumbling from parents about the school fees for the new school year especially where there are schools imposing a high amount of fees and some for unnecessary items.
It was good news in disguise when the PM announced during his tabling of the 2008 budget that school fees will be abolished. The government really did fulfill their promise (as they always tell the rakyat). But the joy among the people just short lived. School fees is just RM 4.50 which is just for a plate of Nasi Lemak with chicken and a glass of Teh Tarik. Parents still have to pay a high amount in school fees. Save for the FREE loan of textbooks (or else the amount will doubled)

The compulsory fee is RM 30.50 while the second part is stated as donation which is not compulsory (unlike previous years it is compulsory too) . So parent have the choice to pay in instalments. Thats a good move taken by the school and I think it does not burden the parent especially those with a few kids in school. The second thing is that it was announced to coincide with the pay day where parents can breathe a bit. There was no bonus for government servant (which lead to the grouses) beside pay day was early due to the Aidil Adha and Christmas celebrations.
