Since the setting up of TV3 in the 80s, the station is very proactive in capturing their audience. As a private television station and profit depends of viewer population, they worked hard to achieve it. On the other hand RTM being a government entity are made up of staffs who are comfortable with their position as a government employee. TV3 is more to making business whereby RTM acts as a service provider. So now RTM has loose out and with todays political climate, people will shy away from RTM.
RTM is more to be the whistle blower for Barisan Nasional and it plays a part for not being popular. People want to hear the truth and not censored and filtered information that lean towards the government. Many sensational issues that the people would like to know are either not aired or refurbished to make it mild and hide the real truth. So now RTM loose out. It is more difficult to recapture the confidence of the people.
