After been flying all this while since 1974, yesterdays flight was the worst for me I think. No, its not MAS totally I am complaining about. Its about myself. After being delayed for about 4 hours, at last flight MH2565 took off from Kuching IA at 5.20 in the evening. While waiting and surfing at The Coffe Beans, I am experiencing a bad stomach. I kept blurping and once in a while had some stomach upset. I knew this will take some hours ahead and since I am fasting, I can't take any medication. So I have to bear with the condition. I knew its due to wind and gaseous formation in my intestines. The intestine is trying to push away the gaseous formation either through my esophagus or through my anus. I try to control that it is only release through the esophagus because if through the other opening, it might be accompanied by a bad smell, you know what it is. If I just can't control it, I'll move to somewhere there's no people around and release it.
Inside the aircraft, the condition doesn't get any better. I was sitting on row 8 seat D and it was a full flight. Next to me is a young Malay girl. This makes it worse because I am not ready to have a red face if I were to release the wind uncontrollably and what more it there is also some sound accompanying it (LOL). I felt the 1hr 45 minutes flight to Kuala Lumpur is quite torturous. I have to bear with the uncomfortable condition all the way in flight. As far as I can remember, this was the first time I tried to ease myself in the toilet. Before it was just to urinate. However sitting on the toilet bowl, what came out was just wind.
The flight ETA was 7.05 p.m. and it is just barely 2 minutes before the breaking of fast. My god, how can I break the fast without anything to eat. I saw some passengers were given packed meals and was wondering why they are so special. There are many other Muslim passenger on board and why not provide packed meals for everyone who is fasting. After all the flight come with meals which is inclusive in the fare. MAS should be proactive and take the neccesary preparation when they knew that the plane will land just a few minutes before breaking of fast and Muslims have to eat something. After all the delay was caused by MAS itself.
After landing, what I have for breaking the fast is just plain tap water at the water dispenser. Its an experience.
