Travel- Kuching Memories

This will be my last day in Kuching for this visit. In the morning went to Kuching Park Hotel to finish off my official duty, even it is on a Sunday. Upon return my friend told me to get ready to go for last minute shopping before leaving for Kuala Lumpur on MAS MH 2515 ETD 11425.

Bought three Kek Lapis (Layered Cake), Terubok fish and midin vegetable. Kek Lapis is a local cake and is becoming popular among Malaysians from other parts of Malaysia due to word of mouth and if well promoted can become another Malaysian specialties as popular as other food. Bought three bricks (is it correct? - well, I don't care if its not) of Kek Lapis for RM 45.00. Sarawak is also popular with its Terubok Fish and for visitors especially Malaysian's from other parts such as West Malaysians will make it a must buy item when visiting Sarawak particularly Kuching. I bought one fish at RM 22 and this time the normal price of RM 24 is being sold at RM 28 per kilo.

Midin is also a rare vegetable in Malaysian and is popular in Sarawak. For me it is a must to eat the vegetable (fern species) whenever I visit Kuching. For tjis trip I had already eaten the vegetable on the first day immediately upon arrival. Its the Midin belacan- fried with prawn paste. PERIOD.

For three consecutive evening I break the fast at My Village Barok Bistro. And every time it is the Hot plate rice menu. Meals for sahur is being provided with room at The Holiday Inn. So I just have to make reservations with the hotel and meals is sent to the room. Very convenient. Had Fried Rice on the first night, Nasi Lemak on the second night and again Fried Rice on the third night.

Arrived at Kuching International Airport at 12. 45 and found out that my flight at 1425 hrs has been cancelled and I will fly back at a new time that is 4.00 o'clock. This time its MH 2565. I checked with MAS timetable on my laptop and found out that there is no flight MH 2565 on the Kuching-Kuala Lumpur sector. Searching it was on another sector. But who cares, as long as I can fly back home whats the fuss ablut flight number. Usually we use to hear flight cancellation or delayed on Airasia but now MAS is also going the same way. Even VIPs were not spared a few weeks ago, where Terengganu MB's flight from Kuala Terengganu to Kuala Lumpur was delayed.

Tried to surf from Starbucks at the Departure lounge because they have WiFi access but I must be a customer. I am fasting so how can I buy drinks or food just to get the opportunity to surf. Then I check if I can buy some other items and while checking for the cheapest item the girl behind the counter told me that their WiFi is down. Oh my, what if I was told that after I bought something from them. There's also FREE internet access at the KFC next to Starbucks. There are two terminals and both is being used.

Enter the departure hall B at 3.35 as advised on the boarding pass and during check-in. Then upon checking the departure time I found out my flight was re timed to 1720hrs. My god. Why there is no announcement made about the re timing. PERIOD.

Inside the departure hall B there's Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf with internet facilities and also Wifi. However WiFi is down. Internet access using the computer facilities at CBTL is charged at RM 3.00 for half an hour and RM 5.00 for an hour. Took an hour of access time and here it is. My posting for today.
