Continuing my blog about the evening in Bukit Bintang. There was a stage performance at Bukit bintang just in front of Maybank and at the busy intersection of Jalan Bukit Bintang and Jalan Sultan Ismail. The performance called Samrah Festival 2007. It was organised by Kuala Lumpur City Hall and Tourism ministry of Malaysia. Air Asia is the official airline. Click on poster to find out more.
Samrah is an Arabic cultural performance that combines zafin and syarah accompanied by singing and strumming of the tarbus, violin, marwas, bongo, darabuka and keyboard.

When I was there the preformer was Al Mawaddah, an all female nasyid group from Malaysia. I was surprised that this group had already released 22 albums since they were established. How so engrossed with other genre of music that I neglected the development of the Islamic entertainment genre.
Audience includes tourist and locals. This is a live example of how Malaysians live and how peaceful we are. Come to Malaysia, its Truly Asia.
