General - Making Online Friends

Most of young internet surfers do at one time or another visit online friendship website or receive email informing them that some friend invited to be a member of an online friendship website. I just don't know how many websites there are but some of the popular ones are My Space, Facebook, Paceparty, Friendsters to name a few. Besides the the normal friendship sites there are also site that cater to certain lifestyles such as gays and homosexuals. Some of those that I have come across or stumbled upon are Adultfriendfinders, Alt.com, Lifeout.com, Fridae.com etc. I am not linking the sites and if you are interested, find out for yourself. LOL.

The Star youth2 posted an article about online friendship. Read it here. So do you have a profile on any of those websites? I think the younger generation will have at least one profile on any one of the website if not on all of them.

To have a wide circle of friends is good but to choose the wrong friend is what matters. One problem of online profiles is that anybody can post anyones pic and clainm that its his/her picture. It can be an avenue for some culprit to smear or marr image of someone even not amounting to blackmail.

Creating friendship on the internet is very easy. One can get thousands of friend on his/her list because it is the same as the pyramid scheme. Keep adding and adding and the circle grows by day. However how many of those friends are really friends where they meet and converse.

Keeping in touch is also easy as clicking the keyboard. No hassle travelling to the post office, buying stamps or to the bookshop to buy envelopes. Keeping mails is also easy and you will never lose any mail even your PC crashed because it is stored in some remote servers at some part of the world.
