The Star today reports that petrol stations will be operating from 7am to 10.00 pm daily. This is ridiculous. Petrol has been an essential item to keep the economy going. So what if you are travelling after 10.00 pm and run out of petrol? What if there is an emergency and the cars need fuel urgently in the wee hours of the morning? Life doesn't stops at 10.00 pm and starts at 7.00 a.m daily. Life goes on and since life keeps going it needs fuel up.
The reports says that Petrol Dealers Association wants to close petrol stations early citing escalating cost and security risk. To me it is selfish of them if they are going to make it a blanket decision to all petrol stations. It would be better to give the freedom of petrol station owners the discretion whether they are going to follow the decision of the conference or not.
Alang Zari says; " “We are doing this so as not to inconvenience travelers and those in the transport industry,” What does make him think so? Maybe he does not travel at night. Or maybe his car can be filled up in Johor Bharu and have enough fuel in his tank to drive all the way up to Padang Besar or Bukit Kayu Hitam after midnight. Alang Zari, don't think only of yourself. Think of those people majority of whom do not use the highway and travel at night. Those people in Sabah and Sarawak too still need to travel even after 10.00 pm.

If doing petrol business does not make any profit and high overhead, surrender the station to someone else and go and do some other business like selling nasi lemak or goreng pisang since these two business does not need high capital to run. Don't try to give the ultimatum to the government and want then to bow to your whims and fancy.
