Today the news in Berita Harian is another news that is going to be passed and implemented which is equivalent to increasing the percentage of debt among Malaysian especially those who want to own car. The implementation will only benefit one party that is the business entity but not the man on the street. This is the view of Secretary of the FMCCAM, Khoo Kah Jin when he says," projek itu akan menyemarakkan kembali sektor automotif negara selain mengurangkan lambakan kereta terpakai dan kereta usang yang tidak selamat berada di jalan raya". What makes him think that old care are not safe on the road. Is there any research and statistics that prove old cars are not safe on the road. How many old cars are involved in road accidents and how many new cars are involved? This should be look into first rather than giving generalise comments just to satisfy his members to make more money and more people jumping into the dept well.
I am using a 1991 Proton Saga and still very faithful to me in that I travel all over peninsular Malaysia every month without any problem except the wear and tear which also happens to brand new Mercedes and BMWs. My Proton monthly maintenance on average less then RM150.00.
I hope the project will not be agreed by the government. When people still use an old car he is looking into his personal financial constraint. Buying a new car will make one poorer by RM500-1000 pr month.
