Google Desktop

I found an old In Tech pull-out and was reading it when I found something that I love to give a try. It's an atricle about Googliciuous. So when I get online I tried the Google Desktop. So you don't have to invest on Windows Vista to have gadgets on your desktop. You can display important items on your desktop such ac clock, computer performance, weather etc.

The application squats on your screen dan display all kinds of data. There are 540 gadgets you can choose from which includes gategories such as news, sports, lifestyles, technology, communications etc. I add a wireless detector and can detect wireless signal if there one around. If you want to try just click here. However you have download the .exe file from the website.

What it's really about is Desktop Search, which indexes your hard drive, making it searchable in a snap and easing navigation through your data a great deal. It provides almost an instant results and presents them through your web browser using a Google-style interface .

But if you are worry about your dark ,dirty secrets becoming readily searchable you can either tewak Google Desktop Search to ignore certain parts of your data, or just avoid installing it on a machine that's used by other people without seperate logins.

This is what my desktop looks like with the Google Desktop. The bar on the right is the desktop. The 12 gadgets you can see in the centre is some of what you can choose and place it on the sidebar.
