Astro Oh Astro

Everytime when there is bad weather or the sky is too cloudy then Astro subscribers will find their reception is affected and Astro will politely tell us "Service is currently not available". But whether service is available or not we still have to pay our monthly bills failure which subscription will be suspended and if you pay up RM 20.00 will be included in your next bill. This is unfair. Maybe I am wrong but does a mouse click to reconnect the serice cost RM 20.00. Then the technicians at Astro must be driving a Merc or a Bemer sponsored by Astro subscribers.

The problem with Astro service is not a yesterday affair but has been happening for years and Astro still can't rectify the problem. Are they just interested in making money and keeping a deaf ear on complaints and grouses from subscribers who still have to pay for the "Service is currently not available".

What is the Ministry of Energy, Communication andMultimedia doing to look into this matter. It is not a one man problem but the whole nation. If Astro can't live up to subscribers expectation then they must reduce the subscription till they settle the problem. I know nothing is FREE but why must subscribers pay for watching a "Service is currently not available" screen.

I sent the blog below to The Star Citizenblog on Sunday 5th February 2007.

I had posted a comment on the blog by peter yew tittled Astro, Where Art Thou in The Evening? on Friday February 27. Read it here . I think the problem is with Astro and not our satelite dishes or decoder since not every channel is affected (refer peter's blog for the affected channels). At first I thought it was my decoder or our apartment shared receiver but when peter write in citizen blog then it is a common problem for most subscribers if not all. We are staying in an area just next door to Astro in Bukit Jalil and jokingly can just tap the transmission directly (LOL). Now with this inteference what is Astro doing to rectify the problem. I think the problem is not with the weather since not all channels are affected.

I am not sure with my suggestion but I think subscribers would agree that Astro should compensate subscribers for the inefficiency since we also pay (lump sum) for subscribing (including RM20 for a mouse click to reconnect suspended subs.) to them including the affected channels.
