Rafizi and Johari while being taken to court
The NGO, National Oversight and Whistleblowers Centre (NOW) is to look after the welfare of whistleblowers after the Akta Perlindungan Pemberi Maklumat (Whistleblowers Protection Act) passed recently in Parlaiment is not effective and doubtful.
According to Rafizi the NGO has five objectives:
1. To function as a monitering body to evaluate periodically administration performance, governance and transparency of the government and its agencies including GLCs.;
2. To expose large scale scandals that is being covered by any parties that has public interest;
3. Protect and safeguard the welfare of whistleblowers through a Whistleblower Protection Fund which includes legal fees, lost of income etc.;
4. Conduction awareness programs to encourage more information providers to come forward; and
5. Train more skilled activist who can analyse scandals and expose them.
According to Rafizi the NGO has five objectives:

The organisation had been registered and will operate its centre in Sungai Besi. The centre has facilities such as training hall to organise continuous training programs and activities.
NOW will be officially launched on 30th August 2012, a day before National Day to symbolize a new freedom for the people of Malaysia.
The success of protecting whistleblowers will depend on donations from the public to accomodate the Whistleblowers Fund.
