Coming 28th March this year many citite will be celebrating 60 Earth Hour. I have blogged about this campaign HERE and HERE. This year 1,858 cities, towns and municipality has already committed to vote earth hour 2009 (at the time I write and post this blog).
What could you do to participate 60 Earth Hour? Read HERE.
I have already joined 60 Earth Hour movement and this is what I received in my email.
By signing up you are supporting Earth Hour's aim to reach more than one billion
people in 1000 cities around the world in 2009. Earth Hour is inviting
communities, business and governments to switch off lights for one hour at
8:30pm on Saturday March 28, sending a powerful global message that we care
enough about climate change to take action.
You too can join the Earth Hour movement HERE. Its FREE of course.
Another event to show our concern for the earth is Earth Day.
22 April 2009 Earth Day.
What is earth day?
In simple term it is a collective effort to save energy for future generation. Thats what I understand. I have blogged about this topic for the last two year.
Earth Day is one of two observances, both held annually during spring in thenorthern hemisphere, and autumn in the southern hemisphere. These are intended to inspire awareness of and appreciation for the Earth's environment. The United Nations celebrates an Earth Day each year on the March equinox, a tradition which was founded by peace activist John McConnell in 1969. A second Earth Day, which was founded by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in in 1970, is celebrated in many countries each year on April 22. - Wikipedia.
