Buletin Utama on 3rd November 2008 aired a news about pig waste splashed on the road in Naka, Kedah by vehicle transporting them to a destination. The remains on the road give rise to unwelcome smell to the public. Upon investigation, the pig waste was transported to a papaya farm and is being used as manure for the papaya tree. I think this just the tip of the iceberg when farmers, especially non Muslim, uses najis as manure for their plant.
OMG!!!!! now its another great exposure. After this will I eat papaya again if I don't know where it is from? Hope religious clerics shed some light on the use of these waste as manure for vegetables and fruit trees that is also eaten by muslims. When it comes to food, the halal status is very questionable.. Yuck!!!!! thinking of the waste as manure has already make me think twice of eating papaya from now on. Hope I will not vomit the next time I see papaya served on the dinner plate.
