The Star TechCentral reports that the Certification of 2.3GHz spectrum of Wimax could be delayed longer than expected. This will then have some impact on the rollout of the much awaited WiMax service in the country which is said to be released by the first quarter of this year. The first being from Packet One out of the four companies that won the bid to roll out the service namely; Bizsurf (M) Sdn Bhd, Asiaspace Dotcom Sdn Bhd and Redtone-CNX Broadband Sdn Bhd.

Lets hope this news is as good as true: Redtone-CNX Broadband said it is proceeding with whatever pre-certified equipment that is widely available. “Currently, there is no certified equipment yet to facilitate a 2.3GHz WiMAX rollout,” said Zainal Amanshah, CEO of Redtone International Bhd Group.
“We will be starting a pilot project this Thursday, working with a tower provider called Sacofa Sdn Bhd,” he said. - The Star
