I met a friend who came from the north and we chat over some Koteow Goreng, Roti Canai, Teh Tarik and Teh O Ais Limau. The topic was none other than the election results. I know he was a staunch supporter of UMNO but now seems that he too had swung to the opposition eventhough he did not admit openly. I oculd remember during the last election in 2004, he was out on the streets at night putting up banners and campaign posters for the BN.
The issue he brought up was none other than the hot topic of the situation in Terengganu. Seems that everybody is talking about Terengganu. Nothing much can be said about Terengganu but wait for to outcome on the coming days after the new MB start his work today. We were contemplating that there might be a new by election for the state if when the new state assembly sits and decide to vote of no confident which can result in dissolving the state assembly. If a fresh election were to be done, we think that BN will loose another state.
The next issue that we talk about is that we are lucky that Tun M were not successful in removing the power of the Sultan. If he were to have removed the power of the Sultan, then there will be a state of instability because there is no vote of partiality because the country is ruled by politicians. And as politicians, they have their personal agenda for themselves and their cronies.
Why is Pak Lah defending DSIJ? Most people hear answering this question will not miss to mention Patrick Badawi. It seems that the name of Patrick Badawi sticks to Pak Lah just like Ting Pek Khing sticks to Tun Mahathir whenever Langkawi are mentioned and associated to projects. Patrick Badawi, DSIJ and Pak Lah might have something in common and any other man taking over the Terengganu government might open up a pandora box.
My friend was also talking about the election and wondering with a surprise as how can BN still retain Perlis. He is one of the election centre officer and was keeping a close watch on the election box which is for the first time transparent (only the ballot box is transparent, every other things not so transparent). He said that he could see the marks on the ballot paper since most of the paper were not folded properly and was exposed. However when it comes to counting of votes, BN emerged with most votes. He is wondering till today.
Another thing the is puzzling is about postal votes. When and where are they counted? Postal vote has been an issue for all previous elections and when the country is peaceful why must there be postals voters among the army where they can be present at polling centres on polling day. Even there might be some who had to be away on official security duty, these personnel can be exempted and carry out postal vote. But what about those who are staying in their camps and own home and were free during the polling day. But still they have to carry out postal voting. Just oen answer which the SPR can't answer: to win the BN.
