Now the opposition is in power in all the five northern states. This is of course a great achievement after 50 years if Independence. The task now is to fulfill the election promise and to work to maintain the five states be ruled for another term after the next election in 2011 or 2022. I think the next election will be much earlier because the BN will feel uncomfortable sitting in the opposition seat and with less than 2/3 majority. As most of us know, the dirty tricks and sabotage has already began on day one of the new government. So another task is to start working for the next election.
During the 12th GE, the alternative media, especially the bloggers and their blogs played a crucial role helping the opposition win. Websites see a sudden surge in visitors because they do not depend on the traditional print and electronic media, since its is very one sided and has turn into a campaign platform by the arrogant BN. Therefore, the state government in the five states are not going to get any positive coverage from all these traditional media. They will only air the negative aspects of all these government. Usage of negative reporting toward the government in the five states will be a daily fun for them. An example BNTV3 reported that new Kedah MB membolot lapan portfolio dalam kabinet kerajaan baru negeri Kedah. The word membolot is to show the rakyat that the MB is a greedy person. But if any BN MB take even all the important portfolio, BNTV will report and he is sacrificing his time for the sake of the rakyat. Bullshit!.
Ex Selangor MB of Selangor was interviewed by BNTV3 showing how an educated doctor utter words of jealousy when he related about the government manifesto to give free medical treatment for senior citizens and allowance for kindergarten kids. I LOL hearing how childish the Ex MB is.
Government need their own media.
The government in the 5 states need to have their own newspaper to relay information to the rakyat. They just can't depend anymore on all the prime media (Berita Hairan, Utusan Meloya, etc.) for news about the affairs of the state.
Besides having their own print media, they can always depend on the SOPO bloggers who were helping them during the last GE. These bloggers needs information from the government to help disseminate them. I am sure the bloggers will want to help.
