So the fever has raised its temperature that nomination is being finalised. I am not sure about Indians representing Gerakan under the BN flag but what I read from Malaysia today should be read by Indians throughout Malaysia. The posting reads: GERAKAN: WHO CARES ABOUT THE INDIANS.
Little Bird who wrote the article said, "I felt sad and angry again when I heard that this time around the Gerakan will not be fielding even one Indian candidate in its line up. Gerakan is fielding 12 candidates for Parliamentary seats and 31 candidates for State seats throughout Malaysia. Despite saying that they are a multi-racial party, Gerakan says they cannot find any capable Indians to be fielded as candidates. So much for Gerakan's version of multi-culturalism and multi-racialism."

Little bird, while I applaud the article written by you, empathizing with "our" Indian cause, something jars. Please bear with me while I try to deliver my point. The last time I checked the map of India, which was right after I read your comment, Punjab, is still considered very much a part of India. Now for some reason when the Punjabis arrived in Malaya about the same time as my Dravidian (originally from the South of India) ancestors, they were classified differently. Perhaps owing to their pale skin and the fact that they preferred to be known as Punjabis rather than Indians when they set foot in Malaya. But as at present time, Punjab is still enjoying the benefits of being part of India, whose economy is booming and Sikhs most certainly do not face discrimination in India despite the fact that they would rather have their own homeland calling it Khalistan. I doubt if India will ever accede to this ludicrous demand. But that is not what I wish to state. The point is back in India they are Indians. When they travel out of India they carry an Indian passport. But here in Malaysia they are classified differently! In other countries like for instance in Europe or other parts of Asia they are still referred to as Indians. So why the difference here in our country? Is it because they are taller, fair skinned and speak a non Dravidian language? Is it the Bollywood craze that makes the other races set them apart from us dark skinned dravidian Indians? Do they consider it beneath themselves to be considered Indians? By the way, I would really like to see how many Sikhs take up the fight for equal Indian rights here in Malaysia. Do you know why the Chinese are so united? Because they do not suffer from racisim like the Indians do! They are united unlike the Indians. They don't care if they are from Shanghai, Beijing, Guanzhou etc. As far as they are concerned they are Chinese first. While we Indians are still bickering amongst ourselves to prove a so called supremacy which only exists in our own small minds! Whilst the Chinese are smarter and know that united they stand, divided they fall. Perhaps, we Indians should take a leaf out of their book and perhaps try to unite ourselves first and then perhaps we can fight to be called bumiputeras or puteris.
P/s - Mr Bulbir Singh, I await with bated breath your condescending remarks regarding this which I have no doubt I will be deluged with.
