I think most people know where to get free massage these days. Many shopping malls have this service even though it is just as promotional purpose. In Malaysia four maun companies use to promote their health related product which concentrating on massage for relaxation. The four companies race among themselves promoting their products are Osim, Ogawa, Gintel and Oto.
Massage helps to relax the muscle and promote efficient blood flow. For that reason there are many massage therapies that originate from different cultures east and west. However in todays liberal world, massage had been attached to negative images. When we talk about massage many people might relate sex into their mind. Maybe the hanky panky activities that take place in massage parlours is the reason of this.
I was at Carrefour in Seri Petaling today and just for relaxation, tried the Oto Powerfoot and the portable back massager. I seldom try the products displayed because not to disappoint the sales person. But today I gave it a try. The powerfoot massages the sole of the feet and the gastrocnemius muscles. The portable back massager gives a good massage on the back, but my view is that the balls rolling is too hard for the muscles. As a solid object it does not give way to bulges and the underlying bones. Hence it does not give the expected result since at one point or another one can feel a painful pressure on the back even though it is minimal.
The powerfoot is quite acceptable since the kneading on the gastroc is more comfortable due to the softer material and the gastrocnemius muscle is quite massive and the pressure can't be felt on the bones.
My conclusion, machines can't replace natural hands kneading and pampering on your muscles. The human touch factor is missing from machines.
