Technology - Keeping With The Pace

Development in the technological field never stops. Things are getting smaller, faster and higher. I just blog about the data traveller and last night I was browsing for a new handphone at the dealers and asked about a 3G phone. The dealer shows me a Motorola with better connections that is 3.5 G. I have seen the 3.5G written inMobile magazines but is wondering what is it all about. The dealer told me that the 3.5G phone can give me a better and higher speed of data transfers.

The 3.5G solution promises a data download speed of up to 14Mbps (megabits per second) and an upload speed of up to 1.8Mbps. Compared to that, the mere 384Kbps (kilobits per second) download, and uploads up to 64Kbps that a 3G network now offers are somewhat of a bad joke. Just to point out exactly the bandwidth difference between the two, let's take a 1MB MP3 file and send it over a 3G network. It would reach its destination in 22.4 seconds. The same file, sent over 3.5G would be received in 4.1 seconds. This will mean improvements in mobile voice telephony, video telephony, mobile TV, mobile broadband to laptops, and fixed-broadband services. -3.5G: A look into the future

When 3G is still at an infancy stage and most end users is still trying to understand it , now comes 3.5G. Another new broadband service provider is providing wireless connection using the iBurst technology and according to wikipedia it uses the 4G spectrum. Now we are having the HC-SDMA (High
Capacity Spatial Division Multiple Access)

3G is WCDMA over 2100MHz at Malaysia. But there have WCDMA over 850MHz and 1700MHz also but not used in Malaysia.

3.5G is upgrade of WCDMA to WCDMA HSDPA. Nothing different on voice but for data.

2G is your regular GSM lah.. with GPRS of course then 2.5G is GPRS, 2.75G is EDGE lah.. all over GSM 900MHz and 1800MHz now. All three DiGi, Maixs and Celcom are all dual band now means they transmit over 900MHz and 1800MHz.
