Last night I went out with my family for dinner at Sungai Besi. Of course the objective is to eat the mee goreng mamak. After filling up the stomach on the way back I decided to stop at the Fespic Fair at carpark A National Stadium, Bukit Jalil. Nothing to worry since I am on my back home anyway and will drive through that area.
The environment is far-far different from other fairs held on the same venue. Or maybe its night that not many visitors are still present. The place is so 'calm' with no fair fever at all. It should have been a great event since being organised in commemoration with the largets disabled sports carnival in Asia. The stalls are near empty. The entertainment tent has visitors that can be counted using your fingers. Eventhough the performer was XPDC. From my poit of view its money being poured into the drain. And by this I am not accusing the organiser but the situation makes me feels so.
The envorinment does not at show its the festivity to commemorate FESPIC at all. Mostly are 'substandard supermarket' selling cheap T shirts, wallets, and decorating items. Neraby is the funfair with the same deserted environment. I wonder why do the authorities still issue permit for funfair promoters to open up gambling activities. One might dispute that its not gambling. Well, what is gambling? Wikipedia defines;
"wagering money or something of material value on an event with an uncertain outcome with the primary intent of winning additional money or material goods".
This is actually the learning venue for future gamblers. one will ask what is Islam Hadhari when activities of the community does not projetc the values of Islam.
OK, after this I am going to MAHA 2006
